Ok my progress was cut short due to a wrong part but here is what i got so far

econo winder

The breather's are still attached until i get the right bolts to close them up. Since i already installed the cover's and the the pcv valves so i just ran a hose between them and connected them together valves and re-attached the breather line's back into the intake. Also if you notice in the next pic, The U shaped bracket installed on the front side portion The spacer is from the round billet k&n i just re-used it until i can get the mounting just right, I found that the spacer is not needed so i need to tweek it some more.
close up econo winder

Oh also i was wondering now that the lower rocker section with the umbrella valves has been removed and the xb covers on and original breather hose still attached will it puke even more now! I will get the upper pcv running tomorrow at the shop. I just want to know before i ride it 18 miles to work in the morning!!

I have a feeling with those sections removed its just gonna pump oil right into intake!

You're supposed to put bolts in to plug the crank breathers and it breathes through the pcv's on top, which is why you'll have less puke going out.

Hey mike i have never had puke ever but. My post says mod cut short due to wrong part posted by another badweber wrong part cut short my mod. Bolts picked up were significantly smaller than posted by a fellow badweber'r. I will eventually learn to measure before just ordering part's on word of mouth.

The support is there, look real close at the breather bolts.

Yes, it will puke oil into the intake. The venting at this point through the head is un-checked and free flowing. Every breath it takes is gonna draw from there. Once you get the upper breather lines from the covers routed. Put normal everyday bolts into the breather holes in the heads. Plug the hole in the spacer also.

I picked up another set of button head allen bolts last time I was at the SL shop, wasn't planning on putting them in anytime soon so if you want to use them and get replacements for me later you're welcome to.

They're a FLST chrome seat bracket bolt.

Hey thanks mike.

I got some here at work and die grind ed them shorter, Also i got a new catch can and the little breather filter for it on the way. I did have to remove material from the front rocker cover it's a little big to fit, it hit the front engine mount. I will not be finishing the conversion until i get the catch can now.

OK Russ, that's probably the ugliest thing I've seen on a tuber yet('cept maybe that chopper awhile back), but you keep workin' on it, it's gotta get better!

Yeah its pretty fugly it looks like some weird rocket launcher, The intake i was using is not mine and i cant afford a $285 intake yet so this will have to do and it was only $38. Hey it works well actually.I noticed the bike doesn't engine brake so much with this on which i find quite strange. It will get better, But it will only be a temporary usage mod. Me and my brother were swapping parts trying to find a problem out on my bike and then his rocker gaskets went and he loaned me his parts for the last 6 months. I finally got my own race ecm and my supertrap fixed the way i like it and a new billet re-usable fuel filter which i was also borrowing. Now his bike is fixed and he needs the parts back to run his bike now.

I cut down the snorkel 3" and moved the sensor back to the position in front of the 2 caps.

I did exactly what you did there Preybird... I ended up going a different route though, i could never get that thin plastic flange to seal up just right... no matter what i did.

checked and confirmed 868a fits like glove!
if you asked for 868a and it did'nt fit than you were given the wrong part!

I got some thick paper gasket sheet's in a multi pack of gasket material, Then i pulled the bolt out of the top of the snorkel and cut it down to 1" and used an old bolt to run completely through the front of the intake in and out a few times to stretch the threads a little so the sleeve of the bolt would pass through and go deeper into the face of it and it worked out nicely. I just traced the snorkel size onto the gasket and made a circle gasket

I think you did a great job albeit does look a bit "homemade". Nothing wrong with that, specially since the price was right.
Now, does the IAT work any better after short stops/hot starts with the shorter snorkle ?
Any why are your headers blueing so much? A bit too lean may be? Mine is just a little darker near the motor and not nearly as blue as yours.

How about using a couple of those "baby" K&N filters used with the breather catch cans to plug the two holes on the snorkel...they would match the big filter out front...
I think I am going overboard a little...

I just noticed what Kalali is talkin about with the header color... mine is barley blue RIGHT by the heads... and I ride mine HARD!

The blueing was from a bad rear head temp sensor that the previous owner neglected to replace. So i replaced the head temp and the o2 sensor. I have had no problems with the bike not starting or running correctly due to the short snorkel.
Also when i did the rocker conversion and left the original breathing system on and the pcv's installed it made the front lower push rod tubes leak and i think they were waiting to go out, Because when i did my front exhaust valve i did not replace the seals which i wish i had done now!

I just barely got the upgraded billet base's from al @ American Sport Bike and need some clear weather to install em.

I have an M2 and was considering a mod similar to this one. I have not switched to the new rocker set up yet but was wondering if any damage could be done by running lines from the breather bolts into each other instead of running a catch can?

Right now i have a catch can but it is not hooked up yet so i am running a breather tube down and under the bike and onto the road, I left the 2 pcv valves connected together and the original bolt's and breather setup i was originally using and the lack of air space in the rocker cover due to the pcv valves and original set up it made my lower pushrod tubes leak!
