Well, I bought my 99x1 from a kid that didn't tale care of it. Its to the point that it needs a lot of little things like isolators, rear shock, frame re-painted due to lack of cleaning. Etc etc, to get it looking good again. It runs fine, just looks "worn". So instead of dumping another couple hundred into it, I'm gonna sell it and get another. It has the custom paint number 22 of 50, but its got 2 knicks in the tank and the rear under the seat has a 3 inch section scratched off.

The way it sits I don't see myself getting over 1500 for it. So I'm thinking of parting it out. I hate to do it, but it can be sacrificed to help other wrecked buells get put back together.

Where do you live! Send pics DO NOT PART OUT THE TUBER! If it were me id do a winter bike project and tear down whole bike and get the frame painted up real nice and fix everything. I just bought an 01 x1w thats not in bad shape. But no service was ever done. I had a lot of trouble with this bike but i got it all done and this is the sweetest bike i have ever owned! here is a list of the problems i had to deal with.

Rear head temp sensor, intake manifold seals and intake seals, o2 sensor shorted out and burned ecm o2 sensor input up, brakes, tires, primary cover gasket, all new fluids, new tires, clutch cable , battery, spark plugs, wires, air cleaner. This bike had a lot to go through to get all squared away but im glad i spent the time and was patient, There were times i almost sold this bike but people here really helped me out and kept me hanging in there, And im glad i did now!

I never had a X1 but do have a tiny bit of experience rebuilding bikes. Your right in that you will have to put some money into it. There are a lot of shortcuts with used parts but I try to use the best I can afford.

After you rebuild it you will have the satisfaction of riding a badass X1 that you built, there is nothing like it.

I see from your profile you are in Vegas. Can you post a couple of detailed pictures of the bike?

I wonder if I can talk Lynn into letting me get another bike. A trip to Vegas might do it....LOL

$1500 is around £800.

Oh man, I am SO in the wrong Country.

Best Buell project I can find over here is an M2 with a rod hanging out the front of the crankcase, and they want £1200 = $2300 for it!

Not the right venue for threatening to part out an X1 Dan-O.
So are you back in the west? and If not are you going to make it out for Bike week and Open Track Pas at LVMS first weekend in Oct.?
American Sport Bike is hosting a buffet get-togeather at the Golden Nugget downtown 4pm Oct.4, kind of a customer appreciation thing.
All in all I hope you don't end up losing your X1...see ya in the buffet line!

I think you guys are missing the point, he wants to get more money out of it than the $1500 he feels he could get for it as it sits - that is why he is considering parting it out.

I dont think were missing the point any of us would love to get that bike whole. Parts are great if the bike has no chance of working as a whole like i.e. accident bent un-rideable frame damage then i could see that parting it out is fine then. But to take it all down just because some yutz didnt take care of it is insane. If i had cash id buy it now for 2500.00. If i were you id go to abs bbq and auction it off to the highest bidder, and put a reserve on it. I can almost promise you that you will get that for it. But its yours and you can do what you want, But give us all a chance in vegas oct 4th to look at it and decide for ourselves what this bike is worth i think you will be pleasantly surprised what monies you will actually get for the bike.

Sorry Bird, Not that kind of venue. The meeting at 4:00pm at the Golden Nugget is not an auction type of thing, it's Al's show, but it might be a good weekend to display it in and around town. I would love to ride all day friday into So. Utah but I've got an appointment in traffic court...you know what I mean.

LOL i know what you mean i did mine last week with the driving improvement officer got 6 month gbh traffic school 4 hrs 40.00 fee for class. Oh i wasnt saying it was that type of venue. What i was getting at, was with all the buellers coming through you could easily hold an auction at your trailer in the parking lot where all the bikes will be. All the people coming to vegas is a good thing, you could set out a sign as people ride by i guarantee someone will stop and buy it! Its a buell it will sell!

I'm pleading not guilty and taking it to trial. It was a BS ticket from a jackass HP cop, small town ya know?
He said I rolled the stop sign and I've got 2 witnesses who'll stand and testify to the opposite.
Are you going to make the buffet saturday night bird? Or are you to far out to make the trip?
Let's hope Dan is here and can show his ratty X1 and maybe somebody will make a winter project of it.

And he's good people too, a regular guy. His wife joanne and his son(Iforget his name) are equally as genuine.
We will miss you bird but do try to make the trip some time when the snow gets to be too much and you want a dry ride.
Sorry to hear that Dan wont make it either...disapointed.
BTW Dan, where are you going to work when you get back, the dealerships are in big trouble here, Bill Heard closed altogether, dumped his stock and closed the doors...both dealerships.
Yea the skies are looking pretty dark people, it's gonna get rough from here.

I think you are right in the ball park with the price and it's a shame you have to sell her.
BTW I have a seat for you to replace yours with the cracks.
It seems that we are all more critical of our own machines than perhaps someone else would be, you did a pretty good job of patching her scars.
Best of luck!
