I need some help. Where should I mount the after market shock canister? Looks like I have way too much hose to put it in the traditional place.

TIA, Frank

With that much hose one could hide it some where ...

Then those that know would be asking where did you put it ???

Frank,
The instructions should show you where to put it... ahem!
Anyway, I've got mine routed around the front of the engine and attached to the frame below the ignition switch and above the primary.

You can barely see it in the pic, kind of in front of the high part of the primary.
Mine came with two hose clamps, and the directions said to mount it there...
Let me know if you need better pics.

Bart

Bart and Blues, I did not get instructions with it but thanks for the info, looks like that is the place to put it. I may look for another way to mount it. I may make a bracket and try to hide it somewhere like Buellistic suggested.

Frank - I have the canister for my Works shock, on the S2, mounted similarly to Bart - hanging off the frame, over the primary inspection plate. That way it clears everything - engine, frame, legs, and lowers. If you have Tony's pic of the "three" at Homecoming, you can see where mine is.

On my S1W (Penske shock, less hose) I have it mounted on the left frame downtube, in front of the motor, where the heim joint attaches. Hard to see the black canister in the pic, just follow the hose up. May move it, though - just installed a race kit on that bike and the different header puts the hose a little closer than I like....

Thanks Joe, I will play around with it after work today and post pics when I get it done. Frank

Mine is on the lift side as well.
Works perfect!

I don't have one of these, but I want one (or 2) and I've always wondered if you couldn't just shorten the hose to be more similar to the stock shock. I like the more compact mounting all on the lower right side. Is there any performance reason that they make it so long? How hard would it be to shorten? Hmmmmmm.....

Here is my solution:

I may shorten the hose at rebuild time (hopefully, a LONG time from now). It'd require someone who can make either -AN or hydraulic hoses (have to look to remind myself which), a fluid refill, and a nitrogen charge. Nothing that can't be done on a user-rebuildable shock (YAY)...but more than I want to get into *just* to have a shorter hose. If/when I have it apart anyway....

In-motion adjustment is nice, though. I even put an old keyring in the top of the Penske reservoir (it already had holes) for a "handle".

Interesting, but I worry that the exhaust will be a bit close to the line.

It does not look too close in the pic. Oh yeah, I did not put the exhaust back on yet. I thought about it last night and can make a cable router or something similar but will see when I get the exhaust back on.
