>ahem<Don't bother-
I have tried K&N "Superbike Bars" - think O.E.M, bent down at a more sever angle - they hit the tank
Cross Roads "Clip Ons" - They bent at the screws during a tip over - ruined
Rizomas from Italy (yes, $$$$$) - and they just didn't mount right the clutch cable binded too much
- stay with the O.E.M - after all these years I'm realizing just how good the O.E.M equipment is on Buells

You could try some different style of motocross bars... I only tried one set, they didn't have enough sweep back but were lower, which was nice.

I have a set of the Crossroads on mine as well and they faired okay in my driveway tip, but I don't know how well they would crash at speed - I don't intend to find out

Oh, I'd avoid actual clip-ons, had a set of those too, since they have to mount under the upper triple clamp they are REALLY low (imagine laying on your tank) and with the stock m2 tank they have to be swept too far forward for any comfort... in case that's what you meant by "cafe racer"

Tried the chrome "Clubman" bars too, didn't like them upside down - contacted tank, thought the up position was perfect until I actually rode the bike, after a 15 min ride with the wife I decided to go back to the crossroads, which would be absolutely perfect for me if they were about 1/2" to 3/4" higher, just for around town, they were perfect at the track last year.

i did the clip-ons route with much lower seat and like it. bars hit tank and air cleaner requiring S1 tank and forcewinder. plus flyscreen and headlight end up lower leaving instruments out in the breeze. clutch cable and brake lines end up way too long too. nothing is ever easy!

"...nothing is ever easy!"

Here's a handlebar thread from last year where I touched on an issue with Crossroads on my M2... interesting alternatives to Crossroads are shown too.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/297358.html

"I decided to go back to the crossroads, which would be absolutely perfect for me if they were about 1/2" to 3/4" higher, just for around town.."

I saw where a guy fabbed some blocks to slip under his Crossroads to do that. Look simple and effective. I almost did the same thing, but the position works so good in the twisties, I left it low. I love the Crossroads... I hope Al will be able to sell replacment parts for them instead of an entire set if they get damaged.

I also saw a thread recently where some tubular clubman bars fit pretty good and put the grips in about the same location as Crossroad, but at a fraction of the price... anyone recall it?

Had I found clubman bars that fit, I would have never gotten the pricey Crossroads.

I'm running the set made for the s1w, they have worked out just fine, I've thought about seeing if I can get a machinist to make some blocks for the bars but have not pursued that yet.

I paid $27 for the tubular clubman's, a few folks ride with them flipped down, that places them lower than the Crossroads, I tried them upright and they were too tall for my taste, close to the stock bar which just doesn't work with the seat I'm running now.

Bought my crossroads from here actually.
