Riding the S2 into work today, lost most of my front brake. Working fine, then all of a sudden I'm cracking my knuckles when I 2-finger the lever. Hm. Not good, especially 10 days before it gets to run around Pocono!

Fortunately we had a rebuild kit in stock...guess I get to ruin some paint tonight, LOL.

Did you get wax or something on the rotor/pads?

oh, no...it was out of fluid. My own fault for not having checked it in the 3k miles I've owned it...

It wasn't a matter of "squeeze...no stop", it was a matter of squeeze with 2 fingers, lever goes to grip and crushes other two fingers...and still no stop. grr.

No signs of leaks or drips, so I'm going to keep a bottle of DOT5 in the saddlebag and keep checking it....and take the rebuild kit with me to pocono just in case!

So no leak, just the displacement of the pistons as the pads wear out?

If you squash the pistons back in, it will probably get the bubbles out up top.
Then you can top it off.

Joe,
You sure you want to use Dot5? Last I checked they call for Dot4 and I don't think 4&5 are compatible.....Charlie

You're right Charlie about the compatibility of the two. There was a lengthy discussion about this earlier. I'll try and find it. Chase has skinny on which bike took what.
