As far as I know, there's only one other BadWeBer with a Ca S2 silly enough to leave the Qwiksilver on - and he got his carb upgraded to something that is very nearly a different carb. Mine's still the original variety.

I always wondered why I couldn't get full throttle outta that carb. The slide would still have about 5-ish % of its travel left. I checked all manner of things - until I finally decided to look at the throttle tube and the control housing.

The throttle tube appears to have too much plastic just behind where the idle / close cable attaches - and the plastic acts as a pessimistic stop in the system. I trimmed it some - but don't want to go further so I don't compromise the throttle close attachment area.

Anyone have any experience in this area? Do the CVs do the same thing?

You've seen those pumpkin launching contests that they use various cannons or slings, etc. to see how far they can huck a pumpkin?

That Quick silver is nice lightweight aluminum - you should be able to set a distance record!

I think that 5%-ish is the safety margin - anything more and the unit self-converts to bunsen burner!

I put a CV on Penny's S2T after her QS tried to burn her bike down, and it worked great - something the QS NEVER did.

In the mean time - try backing out the throttle cable and take up the slack on the idle side, so that it moves the amount of effective range of motion of the twist grip to favor the pull side of the grip. (does that make sense?)

Wait - maybe that should be the other way around with the cables - damn! now I'm all confused.

Better yet - get the Aerocharger on there and that 5% will be pretty moot!

Just be warned, I have seen at least 3 QS's have the slide break pieces off and send them through the motor. My original engine in my S-2 suffered a piston failure because I did not realize what happened for several thousand miles. The inside corners break off and you might not even see the area unless you were looking for it.My idle went to hell after I had 2 plug gaps close mysteriously coming back from N Carolina.By the time I diagnosed it when I got home the damage was done.M
Then I learned after an engine rebuild and I called Edelbrock for a carb slide that QS had had a recall--doh! I sent my carb in and got a completely different one back??Had different vacuum line set-up but could not see any other external differences.

Al-

The adjustment should probably be zero slack on the pull side. My complete lameness is showing now - since not only am I stupid enough to leave that QS on, I didn't even follow the simplest path...

FMJ-

I've not forgotten your QS slide story. I was expecting to have the turbo (and the Mikuni it came with) on the bike by now. There are some factors delaying the install - but hopefully they're good things.
