Just got an S3T today and the guy gave me a power commander II with it that he never installed. I've tried to make sense from the instructions in the box but what will this thing do? Also, it looks like you program the a/f ratio but is that something I can do or do you need to do this on a dyno? The bike is a 2001 all stock with under 2K miles. It's the volcano with blazing orange which should make it faster than other non-blazing colors.

Go to PC website and see what maps they have to down load. But you generally can't go wrong with dyno pulls to get the most out of your setup.

The only seem to have maps and downloads for the PC III EX and Buell is not one of their brand they work with on this. Is there another place to get these?

IIRC there was alot of problems associated with using the PC on the FI Buells, they did not play well with the AFV and learned fuel stuff. Terry(Buelldynoguy) can give you the 411.

...ended up having to remove mine...it kept messing with the ECM and triggering 'faulty injector' codes even though there was nothing wrong with them...

same as a fiends of mine. set it up on a dyno and it ran great for 250 miles on the ride home. that was the only time it worked like it should have. kept zeroing out the settings and flashing false trouble codes. he pulled his off and is happier

I echo the warning about the PCII. I bought one from K&N on eBay to reduce the lean knocking I would get when my 2000 S3T is hot in traffic here in South Florida. That worked well and fixed the overly lean FI. A local shop downloaded the appropriate map and dyno'd it at 90 HP, 80 Ft-lb torque; not bad. All good so far. Then I rode it from FL to the Road Atlanta superbike races, planning to hit Deal's Gap afterward. By the time I was in Robbinsville NC, entry to the Gap, the bike was running terribly, cutting out and almost dying on hills. I changed plugs and fuel filter to no avail, local N.C. H-D dealers said they "weren't Buell dealers and couldn't help me" . I had to abandon plans and limped home 900 miles thoroughly disgusted (with the bike and H-D dealer attitudes) and making plans to sell it ASAP. I should have suspected the PCII, once I disconnected it the bike was fine (still lean though, even with the Race ECU - I live with it). I rethought those plans to sell my S3T and I'm glad I did. The PCII and the speedo sensor are the only probs I have had in 10K miles. I received a refund from K&N on the PCII. I hear the PCIII is re-engineered, but this is not a solution for the S3.

If you feel a need to remap an EFI Buell, check out Al's DirectLink tuner. I think he's had some success getting it to work on the tubers as well as the XBs.

I'm with Blks1l, put an HSR on my 99 S3 after it holed the rear piston. But you have a few option directlink and ECMspy. It's great having choice.
