I'm looking at dropping the breadbox on my X1. I've looked at all the options that are available from most of the vendors. Some are out of my price range and others I just don't like. The only one that I seem to really like is the Air-tech piece. Seen here..

Is anyone running one of these? Also, will it mount up and work correctly with the X1's FI? From the pictures it looks like it's on a carbed S1.

Thanks,
Phat

I'm not running it, but I am running a set up designed for a carbed model. Because the hookups are the same, it mounted up easily and perfectly. The only mod I had to make was a hole for the air temp sensor in the backside of the backing plate and settting up a catch can for the blow by.

Hope this helps...

I can't see from the picture but it looks like it might not have enough clearance for the frame.
Remember that the engine moves with respect to the frame.
The stock X1 box has a flexible coupling from the backing plate and the intake.
It does look pretty cute though.
It's cheaper than a forcewinder and doesn't stick out all stupidly.
It also seems to take the same type of filter element as a teardrop S&S style housing.
you can get those anywhere.

The only thing that our fuel injected bikes need that is different from a carbed one is that temperature sensor.
It has to be where the intake air flows past .

In other words, it's probably worth a shot if they offer a guarantee of it fitting!

I've been wondering about those too for my M2, like you I can't afford most of the options, and don't like most of them either. Besides working out the breather/catch can thing, the spookiest part for me is my painting, but even my painting wouldn't look much worse that my busted airbox, course my electrical tape patch matches pretty good. I think you need to be brave and try one of those things, we need a guinea pig. If it works out good, I'll know to try one too. If it doesn't we'll all send condolences and be all sympathetic and stuff.

I have had dealings with Airtech, AND their products...

Kent makes good stuff... and, the CS isnt the best, but, pretty good, especially when you consider the broad spectrum of customers, etc...

Thats my 2 cents...

Well, I think I will bite the bullet and give it a shot. I'll report back as to how everything went.

Thanks,
Phat

I bought my S1 with the GP body on it. It came with a breadbox for an aircleaner that was fed through a port in the front of the fairing. I would imagine that it flowed great but when I pulled the body off to service the bike, most of the mounts that attached the fairing were broken and required welding. Quality of the body work itself is good. The GP breadbox was uglier than the stock one.

Well, it looks like my purchase will have to wait. It seems my wisdom teeth are taking precedence over buying bike parts. I'll more than likely spring for it later in the summer.
