I installed a sprocket cover on my X1W yesterday and after reading the manual, I decided to try to try to drop the wheel without removing the brake caliper from its holder nor loosening the alel adjusters. I was able to slide the axel out, drop the wheel straight down, install the cover (with new hardware) and install it again in less than 20 min.

Feels good to do this stuff on my own.
I have never felt comfortable messing with wheel alignment stuff but all turned out well!

Pics to come.

Damn.
Now I feel like a MASSIVE TOOL.
I've taken my rear wheel off many times and have always taken the caliper off of the carrier.
