Got back from about a 1000 mile weekend at Al Lighton's BBQ sunday. Monday the S-2 was reduced to it's component parts.Engine is crated and ready to go to RT,swapped the 6 speed into my ex Bonneville motor(what a pain without the template)--and after cleaning up all the parts the color change is taking place.Going to black frame/all black bodywork.Taking the time to gerease all bearing and service forks so it will take a bit longer.Other than that it would be done tomorrow.

Bummer about that broken fin on the lower front of the rear head - did you drop it in all the excitement of getting the bike back together?
The all black paint theme is going to look KILLER!

Start with tennis balls, then work up to bowling balls.
Buell cylinder head juggling, on a basis of proficiency, is AFTER bowling balls, and once you're good with the heads, you can move to chain saws, non-running and running, in that order.
You broke the head, so it's back to bowling balls for you, buster!
I just noticed the passenger pegs - are they for you for position change, or do you have passengers with enough intestinal fortitude to ride on the back of that monster?

What are you trying to say,Al??

Today saw the wiring harness and electrical components back on,instrument panel, front fairing mount, carb and intake manifold, rear tire and brake system, started fabbing new Aeroquip oil lines, and had forks ready for new oil when I discovered I had none--darn.

Keep it updated. And plenty of pictures.
As a fellow S2 owner I'm keen to see this "metamorphosis"
What's the specs on the engine?
Apart from paint what modifications from stock form are done/planned?

OK,after 2 days at work I am back at it.More oil line fabbing, got my new lifter block and pushrod tubes to replace the damaged ones and adjusted pushrods and buttoned up heads. Fork oil is changed and front end is all back together.Bike is on it wheels once again.
It is irritating to keep finding that I am either missing a part or have the incorrect part---forgot I did not use the oil sender on Bonneville bike and just noticed the brass plug, and I was at the dealer getting rocker gaskets friday. Needed one exhaust gasket for rear head and could only find the older restrictive style one. Went to put on pulley after removing chain sprocket to find it used a smaller seal---fortunately I had a new one. But chain sprocket also uses a different spacer, and I know I have several as I had just dug them out before Bonneville for Terry.I had to take the top off the engine crate and swipe RT's one.Of course after getting it all together I found both spacers in with all my braided line and fittings---geez!!!But starting to look like a bike again.

DJ,this actually is fun as there was no necessity to it,I wanted to change, not something that needed fixing. No deadlines, I have another bike to ride, race day is not breathing down my neck. And it's actually slowing down at work so I have some free time for a change.
The old motor is on the way to RT, the spare 1250 kit from race parts is on the way to Bomber, the turbo system will be heading off to Saro, and the racebike goes to fabricator tomorrow to get framework done.
Now if I could just get some of my brothers projects out of there---

Brankin, you realize this is all your fault. You posted those pics of that black S-2 from the factory and it was down hill from there.
So it is nearly done, just a few bits to finish and am awaiting a license plate hanger from the metal magician brother Bobby G.It looks so sweet and sounds evil.

I've had a very bad case of S2Jones for 3 or 4 years -- I was (notice the past tense) so over it.

That thing's beautiful FMJ.

Very Nice Jim. Congratulations.

I noticed the mirror spacers - had completely forgotten about them. I may need to have a set made up for my bike.

After Xmas I'll (hopefully) have time to get the last bits (famous last words ...: )) taken care of.

Enjoy the "new" bike.

We have been friends and traded favors ever since.Manuel's Custom Auto Body,he has been in lot's of mags for custom cars etc.He was the one that did my Bonneville bike.
