My 2000 M2 doesn't have a tach. I've always been curious about the rpm its spinning at 60mph.

Also... who wants to sell me a tach? I never thought it was necessary given the power characteristics of an M2, but I'll get one if I come across a deal.

In 4th gear 60 MPH is just under 3,500 RPM.

If you had a tach you'd love it. I added the factory tach to my M2 for around $150. Everything needed was in the kit and it works well, matches the speedo, and looks great.

Here is some RPM info for you (Metzler Z6, diameter = 25.039", circumfrance = 6.553 feet or .0012415 miles)

Gear - Speed at 3,500 RPM
1 - 27
2 - 39
3 - 50
4 - 61
5 - 72

Gear - Speed at 6,800 RPM (Rev limiter)
1 - 52
2 - 75
3 - 98
4 - 119
5 - 140

I used 30, 40 50, 60 as around town/easy riding upshift points until I got my tach.

3,500 RPM is a very happy engine speed for around town driving. Engine vibrations were all smoothed out, I got good engine braking if I closed the throttle and good acceleration with no shifting for a quick lane change or pass.

Thanks for the info... the M2 actually spins slower than my old Camaro. I really thought it was turning more rpm than that.
