Hello all! Just installed a new forcewinder on my 00 X1. The bike has a race ecm, vance & Hines muffler. My issue is: riding around town yesterday for the first time since installing the Forcewinder, I have fuel drippin out of the K&N filter, not alot, but enough to wash the oil out of the element. Any ideas? TIA for any help with this problem.

Are you sure it's fuel? Does your Forcewinder route the head breathers into the K&N filter? If so then it isn't fuel dripping. It's a mix of oil and water blowby. The solution is to route your brathers into a catch can or just dump it on the ground.

Yeah, it's definitely fuel. There was a droplet hangin' off the element when I stopped at a buddies house. I smelled it and it was for sure raw fuel. One other thing.... not sure if it's related. But every once and awhile it would seem to pop thru the intake. This would happen at just above idle with the clutch in when I would blip the throttle downshifting or coasting to an intersection. Not always, but maybe every 8th intersection, seemed to be very intermittent and I could never always get it to do it to try to figure it out. This is a new bike for me, and Sunday was my first ride( bought it w/o riding it!)so I don't know if it was acting up like this before I put the parts on or not. Thanks for the reply.

You never answered if the breathers are routed into the air cleaner or not. that will help to diagnose what the problem is.

Sorry about that! Yes, I did route the breather setup that goes to the filter.

1 rerout your head breathers into some sort of catch can

2 get your tps reset
3 enjoy

Yep, that should do it. However, if the symptoms persist after you do the mods, you may want to install the old style Techlusion DFO and have it Dyno tuned with the A/F sniffer probe.

Won't do much other than balance your A/F ratio for the specific combination of aftermarket intake, exhaust and ignition control (race ecm) but I found it to do amazing things to my X1 and I am quite satisfied with the minimal cost.

YMMV

I can almost guarantee that the drips you are seeing is oil and water blowby from your breathers not gas. It will smell like gas because it has hydrocarbons from combustion but it is not gas. This is a very common problem with the Forcewinder if you vent it into the air filter. It is not a good design.

Dan...Didn't intend to contradict your diagnosis and solution. Just adding to it.

Heck, I even spotted up my right leg with the gutted air box until I put on a catch can.

Now, I would like to dump the "Pregnant Guppie" look with a small air cleaner that will show more engine and be compatible with the mods listed in my profile.

Dan, do you have any suggestions on an intake system that will accomplish this?
