It's really not that loud. It is not as loud as a D&D or Daytona Boss. The Muffler has no packing, and that is the main reason I went with it. The race muffler on my bike needed repacking after 1 to 2 thousand miles. That’s not enough time between maintenance. Last September I went on a 2,000-mile trip on the bike. When I got back from that trip you could not tell that it ever had packing. The straw that broke the camels back however was the muffler fracturing at the inlet. All in all I have less than $100 in this
setup.

The lack of packing is why I'm thinking of this. I think the air flow redirection helps a bunch in the noise reduction as well.
(Off to Moroso's site to do some thinking.)
Thanks for the feedback.

I do not have a before dyno chart so I don't know how much help a new run would be. Seat of the pants it seems about the same as the race can as far as power goes. I ran the muffler some with no turn down and from 5 feet away it was much quieter than a friends bike with a Daytona Boss, but when riding it sounded louder than the race can. Riding this weekend so I will see if the redirection helps.

On vacation last summer in east TN/SC, I was booking down/up/whichever the Cherohala Skyway and I notice three Buells parked at an overview. I grabbed some brake to stop and talk with these gentleman.

Turns out they were all from FL. One of the riders was the owner of a HD/Buell store I *think* in Orlando.

That Black S3 looks just like one of the bikes that I met that day on the overlook.

Was that you Mikej?

I bet that was Don from Lakeland H/D. He would have been on a blue S3 with a nuke blue frame and the black one may have been Richard who has a black 2000 S3. I purchased this black 1999 S3 from Richard when he upgraded. But then again maybe not.

sorry bout that, I guess the msg was intended for you Davefl. My bad.

It was indeed Lakeland H/D.

Yea, one was blue S3, one black S3 (seems I remember a supertrapp on the black one. The owner explained that it was a Supertrapp intended for a car that they had fabricated to work on the Buell), and I can't remember if the other bike of the three was a M2, X1, or S3.

I was out there for a week riding those famous roads, and those were the only three Buell's I run across, so I had to stop and chat. I woulda rode with them awhile, but I was going the other direction, heading back to Tellico from the Dragon, and had run out of riding time.

Small world.

If you run into them guys, tell em the guy on the Cherohala Skyway on the White 9r says "Hey".

Yeah that silver paint you had on the other one did'nt look too hot. I know you where not finished with at the time, but it is looking better from that picture. Hopefully I will see it at Lakeland before the trip to Orlando.

There might be something that holds me up from that trip though. It has something to do with a S1W.

Yep, not me, never been to Florida yet.
The Cherohala Skyway sounds like a nice region to ride.

Jody,

sure thing. I will see them tomorrow.

Sean,

It is now flat black. What is this about a S1W?

No stainless. It cost $46.99 plus shipping from
Jeg's. The turn down came from Napa, I can't remember how much that cost (10 or 15 dollars) and the clamps where 10 dollars each so I have about 80 dollars and some time invested. My header needs to be recoated so when I send that I will send the muffler as well.

What are the specs on the inlet and outlet. I'm thinking of making a few more changes on the green machine.

Hey guys, first post here but I've been browsing on and off for a while. Lots of great pics here. Wish I could have one of each of what I see I've been a rider for 30 years now and have had a variety of bikes. I nearly bought a Buell back in the mid 90's, it was a new white RS 1200 that the local Harley dealership could not seem to unload. They had it for years. They finally priced it down to 11,500 I think it was, and I decided I could swing that. I lined up a buyer for my Sportster and went to close the deal. I took it for a test ride and did not like it one bit though! I passed on it and kept the Sporty. What a beautiful bike it was though, it sure looked great in the pearl white. Over the years I've ridden several Buells in the test ride program (do they still do that?) They've come a long way since that beastly RS 1200- LOL! I just recently purchased the Lightning in the pic below, I'm waiting (impatiently) for it to be delivered. I won't bore you with the mod's, you Buelligans can probably tell most of them from the pic. Looking forward to tearing up the streets with it!

Nevco, thank you! Below is a pic of the other side.

Bads1, glad to hear it's a quality component. apparently the bike has a cleanable oil filter as well, this is something I've never heard of. Any thoughts on that?

Right side...
