I thought Nord Stream was a completely understandable disaster.
Either someone did a dangerous secret submarine mission in one of the smaller enclosed bodies of sea with massive overlapping sensor platforms, which is possible but really risky.
Or someone turned the "right" valves to rupture the pipe. There's high probability of an ice plug, which can happen when flow is stopped.
You can thus imagine every kind of spy novel blame game you want.
I like the Russian technician who was bribed/blackmailed by YOUR BAD GUY HERE to turn a few valves and blow the pipeline.
If you prefer Tom Clancy style daring do, please write a story. Ask an AI? I'd emotionally prefer a clever operation, but I'm going with Ockams Razor.
The actual super villain? Soros and Putin? Obama and Xi? Speculate, enjoy.

Btw, option 3 is industrial accident. It's a dangerous and subtle job to restore flow in a pipe blocked by ice, which includes clathrates, weird water and natural gas ices, which can explosively outgas on reducing pressure. It's still a guy turning a valve but with good intent. |

Every person I've ever met from the Conquered Slave States of the Soviet Empire has not had kind words for their ex-Rulers, often including the ex-Soviet jerks in their own country, who tended to take power when the Empire collapsed from corruption and religious intolerance.
To be fair, these were all escapes from Eastern Europe and Eurasia, so that's the brave and misfits and professionals. Not, of course a sampling of happy peasants living back in the Old Country.

This is one of the reason Russia eliminates the power plants, the bridges, the air fields, the water dams, the heavy machinery factories and another ex-rulers legacy in Ukraine the ex-rulers built in Ukraine. Yeah, they probably will go back fishing and hunting, maybe some piracy and such. Will build wooden houses and wooden boats and be happy without the things they hate so much.
I don't know why the Ukrainian nazy trying to defend those conveniences. Maybe they just lie about they have no kind words about the ex-rulers, or maybe they are just stupid just like you are stupid enough to belive the BS they keep telling you.
