Hi ! I'm new to this site. I purchased a 2009 Ulysses 2 years ago and I have logged 20,000 km since then. This included a round trip to Sturgis from NL, Can. and another round trip to the Friday 13th rally at Port Dover on Lake Erie in June 0f 2019. The bike always started strangely. When I hit the starter button I was never quite sure what response I would get. It might just fire up, the starter might sound labored, etc. I purchased a new 240 cca battery, but in spite of the fact that the bike always started, it always started started strangely. Anyway, last September my luck ran out and the started drive would just spin. I assumed the starter drive was the culprit and purchased a new " All Balls " model which I installed this past May. The bike started perfectly but as time ran on it went back to its old ways and now the starter drive spins but doesn't engage. I have a new starter but before I go through the tear down process again I would like to get some opinions as to whether I am barking up the right tree. I realize that the clutch ring gear could be a suspect as well and if I am to take it all apart again I would prefer to replace all of the suspect parts while I am at it. So, do any of you forum contributors have any suggestions as to what the source of my
problem(s) might be ?
