Looked quickly here...nothing jumped out at me. installing / reconnecting the three oil lines to the swingarm. I *know* the manual says to connect the swingarm ends first, then the engine end. Right...I've done it the other way around, and am having a bugger of a time getting the return line's (the outside one on the "clutch side" of the bike, the medium sized fitting) fitting started in the tank's tube fitting. I've pulled the tank's fitting/tube out, and to my (albeit non expert) eye none of the threads look odd/damaged. This is on a bike I'm assembling...came to be in boxes (from a home where there were a couple of xb's...) To start eliminating possible causes---for the years 2005 to say....2009, did these 12r oil line part numbers change? What are the chances that this line's fitting is simply "the wrong one"----ie from a different year? Thanks (Message edited by spuds on December 10, 2018) |

Right. A good night's sleep. Fresh eyes. Stand back. What if.... .....back off the send line off its fitting (it was kinda persnickity going on too, figured it's on...leave it on...). With the send line disconnected, the return line fitting screwed right in...and the send line fitting went back on without too much of a fight too. OK....answered my own question....and relieved that I've now got oil lines in place. Dug out the manual, and mucked around a bit to get some clearances between lines and case bottoms; lines and rear muffler bracket; and between the lines themselves. Onwards and upwards! |
