Hey guys,
New Buell rider here and i'm have charging issues with my S3T. It will only run for about an hour after charging the bat with a bench charger, so its obviously not charging while im riding. I dont know for sure, but my logic is that since nothing dims (lights etc) while im riding, the voltage regulator should be fine. Is the stator the only other culprit that could be causing this issue or are there other things i should be looking at.

Since the stator creates the voltage that charges the battery, it can be tested separately. But between the stator and the battery is the voltage regulator, various parts of the wire harness and connectors tying it all together.

There is one connector in particular, the "77 Connector", that has often shown to be a problem in these bikes. It is located in the area of the front pulley sprocket. The contacts there can develop resistance resulting in destructive heat and a voltage & current drop. The fix is to identify any damage in the connector and most likely replace both parts of the connector.
