jpg of motor oil analysis

18,367 Unknown oil or mileage. M1 MC 20W50?

19,305 SYN3, HD filter

20,089 SYN3, HD filter

22,103 SYN3, Wix 51214 (looks like same as HD but longer (also has the relief valve at the base unlike many others)

24,061 SYN3, Wix 51214

26,957 Valvoline VR-1 20W-50 conventional, Wix 51214

At 22k changed primary chain from 1/2" to 3/4" play per Buellistic.
I read where he said that this could help the cam bearing wear because of too much tension on the other side of the crank.
I was hoping to see the copper drop at the next oil change (24,910) and it did, but maybe this was just the motor continuing to break in. The copper climbed a little on the next oil change. We'll see how it goes from here.

I know changing at 2k is a bit extreme but I was interested in the copper level. The oil is dark but still looks really good.

I think HD is gradually taking the ZDDP (phosphorus and zinc) out of the SYN3, like almost every other oil, otherwise I like it.

The VR-1 seems a bit thin especially when hot, but has more ZDDP and costs less than $5 on sale. I'd rather use a synthetic for the higher flash point (and higher quality), but once the oil is in there for a while and fuel gets mixed in, the flash point seems to drop down to the same point anyway.
