The bike starts and idles just fine. Once I touch the throttle even just the slightest it cuts out. The throttle even feels different. It has less resistance to twisting it.
Any thoughts? |

I would check the both cables connections on both ends and inspect the throttle butterfly to make sure the shaft is not cracked/broken. |

Thanks for the advise. I just got it picked up from where I had to leave it last night. Once the 104degree temps subside a little I'll get to inspecting. |

So the rod that holds the valves broke. I've never hear of this happening. I'm shocked and upset. Anyone else heard of this happening? There weren't any warning signs like the throttle feeling tight or sticking that would have sent stress from that rod through the cable. I'm in disbelief. It needed a back tire and I don't have the equipment to do that myself so I sent it to Baltimore Buell to diagnose and they reported this info to me yesterday. +$400 for the part +$400 for the labor means that it isn't getting fixed right away. I'll tear it apart when I get the chance and get my eyeballs on it.
On a different note... Has anyone else ever broke a tooth off a gear? I think I'm missing tooth/teeth on 3rd.

Which rod which valve? Are you talking about the throttle butterfly valve? |

that is the one... the rod that rotates to rotate the throttle body valve. |

I'm having a similar issue with my bike, but it will accelerate fine if at least 1/4 throttle is applied. If less that 1/8 or maybe 1/4 throttle, then it sputters and bucks severely. I'm guessing it's the TPS. Might try a reset after buying the cables and software, but my guess is the sensor itself. Hmmmm. |

It is not a common problem but mine also broke right at one of the screws which connects the butterfly valve to the shaft. I was and you too are very very lucky that nothing got sucked into the head. I attributed my failure to multiple backfires from the intake at start up causing considerable pressure on almost the entire valve surface. I ended up replacing the complete piece since that part of intake is not sold separately. |
