Tonight I attempted to adjust a dragging clutch on my 09 XB12R and I think I backed the adjuster off too far and now it feels like the clutch lever is binding. (and the clutch is still dragging) Prior to the adjustment it was operating smoothly. Anyone ever do this and what were the repercussions ? I'm hoping I didn't do any real damage but I don't have the tim right now to go deeper in to the assembly. Anyone have any suggestions?

Justin

It should be smooth, and by dragging you must mean that the clutch is not disengaging all the way? I would take the TIME and do it right. By over loosening it the cable end may be not seating properly in the clutch arm and by dragging the shifting would not be as smooth. I have M2's but the XB should be close. Loosen the adjuster and pull the clutch cover and adjust the nut to factory specs. The factory books are very good. Good luck.

Thanks Bert...the adjuster I'm talking about is the one in the clutch inspection cover, not the cable adjuster. I tried the cable only route and things only kept dragging. After I backed off the in covert adjuster too far is when the binding started...I'm suspecting maybe the balls fell out of the ramps?

I haven't had a chance to look at it further as I have to teach my MSF class this weekend : (

Well it looks like you have a handle on it so I'll stand back and watch you work, but I still want to hang around and see what was wrong.

Thanks Bert...still need to find time to really tear in to the bike....I'm pretty new to Buells so this will be interesting! Why couldn't they just have a hydraulic clutch? : )

The 1125R has a hydro clutch, its fantastic! I do plan on getting the hydro clutch kit from American Sport Bike for my XB, it would be nice to get rid of this adjustment crap : )
