Hey all, issue with my XB9.

Got it not long ago and initially had problems starting due to a dying battery. I replaced it with an existing battery I had and it started fine but unless I rev it during idle it quits. It also surges/dies if I start going after a few minutes of idle. It does seem to be a little better once its warmed up.

It was really bad one day so I got to looking and noticed the front plug wire was extremely torn up, I've replaced the plugs and both wires and put the new ones in today, still same issue. Bike wont idle on its own and dies a few seconds after starting. Battery connections are good, had it on a charger to full charge and all connections appear to be tight.

Heres a short video of it doing it.

When it's fully warmed up and ran for a few miles, what does it idle at? If it's lower than 1150, I'd raise the idle speed to at least that. Then see if it starts OK when cold.

When it's working properly it idles fine at around 1k

I've read that a possible TPS might be needed but not sure if I can do that with what I have. I have a Direct-link USB key, does that work similar to ECMspy?

Well, if you haven't done a TPS reset, that's likely what's needed.

BTW, 1k rpms is a little too low. I'd raise it to 1200 rpms and see if that helps. If that sometimes results in a hanging high idle, then do the TPS procedure and set idle speed to 1150.

If neither of these helps, I'd check the integrity of the intake manifold seals for leaks especially when it's cold.

Having issues w/ ECMspy and getting my TPS reset

I keep getting the "transmission error" message a few seconds to sometimes a minute after ECMspy finds the COM port and goes online. I have to close ECMspy completely to get it to find the COM port again. Tried uninstalling but no change.

Running Win7, downloaded ECMspy from a link in the DIY thread on buellxb.com, and bought the cable from xoptiinside.com. I had a hell of a time getting drivers installed. None of the links I found for drivers worked until finally I installed something Windows recommended and I could at least get it to recognize the cable but still times out.

Does anyone have a link to drivers that actually work or an updated version of ECMspy?
