Hey y'all. I thought about what I had done and I guess I kind of hijacked another members thread but with the same questions as for the same or similar problems as he was having ( http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/559083.html?1280455426 ).
Anyway if anyone wouldn't mind reading my last few posts rather than having to rewrite the whole schameal and could give some help and or guidance I would be forever in your eternal gratitude. Thanks in advance, Jim, the other Spidey. : ) Just kidding ya, there Spiderman.

First, no need to retype, just copy and past the info from the other thread here.
You should start this thread in the "Old School" section, that's where the old tuber folks hang out.

I saw mention of a Power Commander. First thing is to ditch it and either flash the stock ECM with the race version firmware or find a race ECM.

Second, make sure you are resetting the TPS correctly.

Back out the idle adjuster until the reading stops going down. Then back it out at least 1 turn.
Seat the butterfly by turning the throttle backwards slightly. When you open the throttle, it should stick very slightly if you've done it right.

Now zero the TPS.

After it's zeroed, adjust the idle speed cable to around 5%. This is your starting idle speed.
You can now start the bike and adjust the actual idle speed to about 10,50 RPM.

Another thing, have you checked the intake seals? They can make the fuelies run like crap if they are leaking.

Good luck!

Brad

Morning Brad, Thank you for getting back to me on this. You wouldn't happen to have a spare copy of the race flash that you wouldn't mind sharing with me? I can PM you my e-mail or whatever.
Thanks for the tip on the Old School section. Hey I'm a 54 year old newb. LOL Just new to the Buells is all. I don't get many of them through my shop as there aren't many around my area. I have one dedicated customer and one pending.
As for mods on the bike there is no power commander, it's just the way it came from the factory other than the D&D slip on that I installed. The bike wasn't running 100% when I put the muffler on but not bad. Just had a slight stumble off throttle but has gotten worse. I changed out the plugs from NGK DCPR7E to the 8E's. At least now I can get it to run on those. I think the 7's were a little to cold for it. I will do another reset on the TPS and see what happens.
In the meantime even if I had a stock flash to go back to then build off that would be a good start. One of the problems I have is that danged cable is really hard to turn so I'm going to have to pull it off and clean and lube it well as it's a bear to turn. I have two blisters on my fingers from trying to get it to turn.
I sure do thank you for the help. Now as for setting the idle, you use the same cable as you do to set the TPS, is this correct or is there an idle adjust screw on the TB somewhere that I am not seeing. I have to admit I do not have a manual for this bike. However one is on order as we speak. Thanks again, Jim.

There is only one idle adjustment cable. If you're having that much trouble turning the idle screw/cable then you will most probably dislodge the cable from the screw itself. If that happens then you'll have to remove the air box assembly, remove the screw and then screw the cable back into the adjustment screw and put it all back together. In my opinion, if that happens, you're better off getting a new adjustment cable since it will probably come loose again. Contrary to popular belief, the FI system in the X1 is pretty straight forward once you get the hang of it and know the sensors. And once you get the ECMSPY on your side, the potential for tuning and troubleshooting is quite impressive.

Jim, your main problem is the stock ECM. That stumble and flat spot will be there until a race ECM is in place or the stocker is flashed (if memory serves, the stockers can be flashed...).
Sorry, I don't have a copy of the race ecm code.

Hey guys, Thanks for the replys. I looked for a race ECM and none to be found that I could locate. The owner wnet online and did find a NIB OEm ECU and ordered it. Not a bad price either, $165.00 shipped. I had him get a new engine temp sensor as well after reading some problems with that and since the bike is almost 12 years old I didn't think it could hurt anything to replace that. I am not a parts swapper and very much the diagnostition and this thing had been bugging the heck out of me. I hope the new ECM will help. Hope someone may have a race flash that I can install now that I have a good understanding of the ECMSPY program, through much trial and error. LOL Seems to be a great program so long as you take your time and study the tuning guide throughly.
I'll keep y'all posted on the results. Thanks again and hope everyone has a super day. Buell Fi, Jim.
