I just noticed a speed-dependent clacking sound coming from the front wheel when the brake is applied. The sound slows and stops as I roll to a stop. It sounds like something hitting as it goes through the caliper but the rotor looks good and I don't see anything out of the ordinary. It doesn't pulse or seem to affect braking and I don't hear anything or detect anything amiss when I roll forward on the garage floor with the brake lightly applied.

What am I likely looking at? Is this a dangerous condition? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked for loose hardware on the front wheel? Does the rotor have any crack? Sounds like you have one or two bolt loose.

how loud is the clacking noise? a drilled/slotted rotor causes the pads to make a noise every time they come across a hole/slot. I notice it on my xb12r. it isn't very loud, but it can be heard while driving about <25mph.

Bit of a long shot but have you thought about your wheel bearings?
