Drew, I have the XR on my bike. From my gleanings of Rek's wisdom. The Boss was designed to compliment the Force intake set-up. Removing the breadbox nets you a small loss(5hp), the boss gives that back to you plus some. You will be pleased where it shows up. It manifests itself between 3k and 5k on the tach. Right about where most of your street riding will fall into. I am real pleased with how it all comes together. I will take a pic of my original hose set-up if you want. This way you can judge how the hose routing for the breather may/will look. Will email it to you in the late am(thurs). loki any ? just ask. Has anyone heard of "adjusting" the stock muffler? What I mean is opening it up and doing some old-fashioned garage engineering by taking out baffles or whatever then welding it back up. I'd like my M2 to sound a bit more like a motorcycle and get a little more power, but being a poor married man, I hate to have to wait until 2002 when I can afford it. Were talking at least $200 dollars for a pipe! Thats nuts! I really dont see why they should cost that much... but thats just me. | ||

Paisan: I tried about every kind of high-temp paint known to man, and I couldn't get anything to hold up worth a damn. I finally gave up and set it to Jet Hot for black ceramic coating. So far, so good. AW | ||

I have the Jet Hot coating on some car headers that are about 3-3 1/2 years old and they look great. There are a few scratches that have rusted slightly, but the rust doesn't run under the coating forming bubbles. You can't really tell the difference as far as underhood heat, though. Well worth it in my book. | ||

The "Cermi-Chrome" ceramic coating from Performace Coatings in Auburn, WA, is doing well on my X1, except for stone chips on the front. I'm going to wrap that part with some sort of heat tape. David | ||

Oh, and it works well too; at full temperature I can touch skin to the pipes without burning. Now, you don't want to leave your skin touching very long, but it's incredibly better than an un-coated pipe. I also coated the supertrapp inside and out, which noticeably keep the shock damping/dampening more consistent (the Supertrapp also sits further to the left of the bike, which leaves more space between shock and muffler). | ||

Does anyone know the size (diameter) of the exhaust pipe on a '99 M2. Is it the same size as the 2000. | ||

Can someone tell me the best way to remove a stripped bolt. Im removing my stock exhaust from my 00' M2. One of the rear bolts keeps spinning but its not releasing the clamp. | ||

Gmilk: If you are talking about the rear muffler clamp, big black thing that is a pain to get to, what has probably happened is the nut, that is supposed to be welded to one flange, has broken loose. Every one I have had except, the one on my 00' X-1 came loose. You need to either put a wrench or socket on it, or a pair of vise-grips. When your done and have it removed either replace the rear clamp with a new one or just double nut the bolt. Neil S. | ||

The weld on the nut is still good. The bolt just spins whether you loosen or tighten it. | ||

Loki says that replacing the stock air filter causes a loss of hp. Is that with re-jetting? I just purchased a '00 Cyclone and had the Forcewinder installed but am waiting until after break-in to change the pipe. p.s New to the site. pretty cool! | ||

Seance: I can't speak for Loki's data, but I do know that many of us have a different result to report. Call Battle2win and buy all the old back issues, there's a wealth of info in there. Including an air cleaner dyno test. Neil Schwartz has done some air cleaner dyno testing as well. Keep in mind though that a dyno doesn't really tell you how an air cleaner behaves at speed. Also, look at what the racers are using. Congrats on the M2, terrific bike. AW | ||

AW you funny man: he, heh, heh, chuckle, one comment on 2 dyno runs makes me an expert???? NOT But I appreciate your thoughts. What AW is referencing is something that was noticed on 2 sets of dyno runs. We noticed that removing the H-box gave us a ~3 hp gain. But, we did not have time to investigate this phenomenon. All, The statement I made about the loss of HP came from the maker of the BOSS. From my understanding of our conversation, on his X1 he noted a loss of 10 peak HP. That was with just installing the Forcewinder set-up. Thus the birth of the BOSS. Now everything I have learned over the years boils down to this. If one is to start messing with what the factory gives you. Match, Match, Match! If you install a free flowing intake set-up; match it with a free flowing exhaust. Jetting changes may or may not be required. Now do I know for sure that I experienced a loss. No, I don't. I can tell you this though, with the Forcewinder as the only change. I seemed to pick up some real mid-range power. It was very noticeable to me. Did I lose some upper HP, who cares my M2 has only been over 5k rpm a few times. Study your options! Do what makes sense for your riding style, how you plan to use the bike, etc. Me, I want the healthiest power between 3k to 5k. That is where I spend the majority of my time. loki | ||

Bomber, Being as since the Daytona Boss is a Daytona HD/Buell product. I wouldn't figure on it being represented at the shows. Unless there is a heavy HD/Buell part supplier present. Your best bet would be to contact the parts dept at Daytona HD/Buell. The BOSS is a sort of local manufacture thing. loki | ||

Seance, Hal's still had several issues of the latest B2Win in stock on their magazine stand/turnstile last time I was in there, it should have the web address in it. Also, the address was posted in the general discussion section in the last two weeks or so. Are you going to the next BRAG meeting there in March sometime? Just recieved my Supertrapp IDS today. Chaecked out the rear mount strap - looks the same thickness as front strap. If anyone has any experiance on the proper way to mount it to the 2001 support bracket let me know. Also I'm wondering if the front strap will mount directly to the front hanger instead of using that link. Any tips or pictures would be greatly appreciated. | ||

Seance, You must be talking about the orange M2. I've got my eye on their S1 over there, but need to swap or sell the Bugatti kit (non VW) car first. First thing I'd do on the S1 is swap out the exhaust.  (sectionally relevant comment) |
