Thanks to Gary Louks for posting the following from an official Buell service bulletin.

SPARK PLUG CLEANING PROCEDURE

2008 XB and 1125R Buell motorcycles provide a feature to help clear residual fuel from the combustion chamber if a flooded engine or fouled spark plugs are suspected. This is achieved by opening the throttle to wide open, setting the Run/Stop switch to Run, then turning the ignition switch ON. This will fire the spark plugs for approximately 4 seconds, burning any fuel left over in the combustion chamber. It may be necessary to repeat this procedure several times to allow a severely flooded engine to start.

NOTE: Motorcycle should be in Neutral.

Did this today on my 2008 XB9SX that was idling rough, it worked well. Just a note, but the engine light blinks a new times while it does its thing, when it stops blinking, the process is complete.

Is there any similar procedure for 2007 Ulys?

Yes, you could initiate a spark plug test which also fires the spark plugs several times. You have to do it for the rear and front cylinder separately. The automatic spark plug cleaning is by far more sophisticated, but nevertheless, the test is better than nothing. If the engine is flooded, you could give it a try to start with full throttle (really full throttle), as starting fuel is set to 0 at that throttle position.

I don't know about anyone else; but, I haven't found this to work on my Uly - at least not well enough to clear, start & run. Maybe I'm not holding my mouth right?
