I recently made repairs to my '97 M2 Cyclone and started riding again. One of the 1st things i noticed was the rough ride, more so on the freeway(SoCal) than around town and through the twisties.Did the research to see which recall shock I had and got proper pre-load,compression and rebound settings and proceedures. After many set-up combinations,I determined the shock to be blown,non-responsive.It rode like an old p/u truck on the freeway, would just beat the crap out of you.Not able to afford a new rear shock at this time,I removed it and replaced with dual rear shocks from another bike.I fabricated shock mounts for the swingarm and chassi, both bolt-on for temp. use until I can rebuild or replace old rear shock.Other than the obvious failure of my temp. shock mounts, have I overlooked something that would make the bike unsafe to ride by removing the OE/recall shock?

ummmmm....the motor/swingarm on a tuber are independant of the frame or subframe. i would kinda hesitant to connect the two. i could think of several reasons why not to just off the top of my head without getting into vibration and twist theory

Duel shocks have been removed and OE/recall was reinstalled.Although the duel shock set-up seemed to work OK,I didn't want to wear-out the WP shocks for the XR.Thanks,Bruce
