Any realworld feedback about Shinko 005 Advance or the Shinko 009 Raven's.

Grip, wet weather, mileage comment?

Are they worth a $70-$90 price break? Money matters to me but so does my expensive a$$

Jim, I am on my second set of Metzeler Z6. Grip well in all weather and I had close to 8000 miles on the first set. I've ridden in over 100 degree weather as well as torrential downpours, they stick.

Best price I found on them was at Motorcycle-superstore.com

Jim, I'm using the Shinko 009 Ravens on three bikes right now. They certainly are not as good a tire as Michelins, but they are also not at the same price point. They are wearing as well has Michelin Pilot Roads that I have used in the past.

They are a good tire for the price. fro commuting and touring IMHO.

I have a set of Raven 009's, they stick decent. Problem is I have steering wobble around about 70 mph. Before they warm up it's really bad. I've put around 1000 miles on them and they look new but I'm taking them off. Saving a few bucks isn't really worth it.

Let us know if your wobble goes away after you take them off and put on anther tire. I would be inclined to believe that your high-speed wobble is related to other things or a combination of things. Head bearings, front forks problems, wheel not balanced.

Interesting to note that Sear's is now selling Shinko tires. I've heard many good things and this is the only bad thing I've heard so I'm guessing you got a bad tire or there are other factors in play causing your problems.

I've decided not to try the Shinko's because the other tires on all on sale this time of year. I can get tried and true name brand tires for a good price so I'm going with Michelin Pilot Road 2's this time.

I would go with Contiforce-Radial for a few more $. That's what I have on my X1.

I owe one person a sincere apology and I think someone else thanks. I was stupid.

I thought I had posted a mean spirited and insulting comment, and that someone else might have deleted it. Apparently not. My good fortune. In regards to Shinko tires, I remember a recent post that someone's Conti's were marked "made in Korea". So does this raise Shinko or sink Conti ?

Ravens at about 10k miles. Grip adequate in wet and good in dry.
Still another couple of thousand miles on the freeway part of the tire. Cornering part of tire, front and rear are toast...

My brother Swears by Shinko's on his Suzuki Canyon Carver. He goes through a set of tires every month or two, so he goes for the Stickiest, Cheapest tires he can find.

He's run 003, 005, and 006 series tires. I may just give the 009 series a shot next season. My Dunlop D208's should Just about get me to November!

I have a set of 009s on my CBR1000F, that I sport tour on. No issues. Long tread life and stick very well, with great wet weather behavior.

Running a 150/70 Shinko 705 on the rear and a 120/70 Pirelli MT60 on the front. No more sliding around in the driveway...

Handles great on the road as well.

Hey Buford, I take it your running the 150 on an XB rim. How hard is that to mount up? Could you post a pic of the sidewall area, please? I'm wanting to run a 150 on the back of my SuperTT but was afraid it wouldn't go well.

Thanks, Murf

Had someone else mount the Shinko 705 150, but nothing was mentioned as far as being difficult. So far its great...bites the sand really well. Dont think there is a prob at all. The Pirelli up front is a keeper too. Will try and get pic.

That's a fairly terrifying looking profile Buford. Do you ride on the street with those things?

Seems like those would go from "leaned into a turn" to "lowsiding into a ditch" with the bat of an eyelash... Yikes!
