06 XB12Ss, when running at consistent speed and consistent RPM usually 65MPH and 3k RPM where it is most noticeable, power drops, and sputters, accelerating and decelerating, the engine runs fine but at reduced power. The other variable seems to be when ambient temperature is above about 70 degrees. Have run with stock and race ecm, stock and econo drummer exhaust, does not matter the setup. Problem goes away with TPS reset but comes back when bike enters open loop learning mode. Each time the reset is done, the problem gets worse. HELP. Dealer has checked the intake manifold seals, checked on throttle body series numbers, this is one of the new bodies, three sets of plugs, K&N air filter, modified airbox to match the 07 style, no modification to the mapping. Any help or direction to point the dealer would be appreciated.

Well no one knows the answer to this one. Put the bike completely back to stock. The dealer ordered a complete intake manifold assembly and installed it. This appears to have solved the problem, now to run a few tanks of gas and see what happens. I hope nobody has to deal with this problem too. Come to find out it was the 4th bike in this small area to have this repair.

I also have an '06 Ss. I haven't had the problem you describe, but my bike has never run well at low speed around town. It is so frustrating. I have spent at least $1500 bucks trying to solve it, but no luck. A new bike shouldn't have this kind of problem. The ECM programming, with the dual mode setup is the culprit. The mapping is continually changing, so you're always shooting at a moving target. In the twisties though, the bike is awesome.

Intake manifold solved the problem, then reprogrammed the ecm and set the TPS. The end

Mw, that's something that should've been taken care of while the bike was new. We had a few new XB12's with the TPS and initial timing off.

took the dealer a year to find the problem, after a dozen times dropping off the bike, they tried to tell me it was bad gas at one point, i kinda blew my top at that, nobody has bad gas for a year. Then told the part was backordered. Well after one phone call I found one. The problem is that the dealers are not investing in the techs when it comes to Buell. I hope that this changes now that the sportsters have the injection systems.

I am actually having this same problem. I have an 07 XB12Ss that is completely stock and have been in for 3 TPS resets since I purchased the bike in April 2007. I am taking my bike in next week to hopefully have the problem completely resolved. How is your bike running now Cms1172??

Running good now, the intake manifold was definately the problem, although sounds like the fuel pump is starting to go out. With everything I had to deal with to get the last problem solved, I am afraid to take the bike back to the Dealer. Besides the pump isn't making it run bad, just sounds bad.

Well, I think I might be in for the same battle you had to go through. Which dealer did you work with? Birds of Prey or High Desert HD?? What is the name of the technician you worked with?

Well started off with Birds of Prey, but they tried telling me bad gas was the cause, I told the service manager that I needed all the records to go to corporate, well that got a fire moving. They had me take it to High Desert, apparently they have the only Buell trained tech in the region. After having to take the bike all back to stock, after the dealer refused to order the manifold until Buell would put a blessing on it, HD/Buell support wouldn't send the part without putting the bike back to stock, first, all had on it was Drummer econo, and race ECM, if that was the problem, there would be a lot of pissed off customers. Finally after all the back and forth, they replaced the intake, problem solved. The Service advisor was Dave, and the tech was Manuel, they were the ones who finally got the job done, I felt sorry for them, they had their hands tied by the admin staff.

Do a search of the KV about fuel pumps.

There was one that had the wires rubbed through in the frame/fuel area that was shorting out the bike.
