On my XB12Ss I get a lot of helmet noise, ear plugs help, but it is still too loud.

Playing around in the 60 to 70 mph I found that by covering my neck with my hand, or raising my shoulders I could reduce the noise level substantially.

Seems that a lot of the noise is coming from air blowing up inside my helmet, not from air going around outside my helmet.

I am just wondering if anyone has experimented with neck muffs, different jackets, windshields, etc. and noticed a noise reduction.

I have a "Laminar Speed Shield" extension on my fly-screen, a somewhat baggy loose fitting leather jacket and a Shoei X-11 helmet.

There is a product sold at Cyclegear and some other places called a "quiet rider"
that closes the gap between your helmet and your neck. It is made of lycra (there
is also a cold weather version made of heavier material)this may solve your problem.

Thanks, I will go and check it out, looks like it may solve my problem.

I wonder if anyone can give a ride report?

Update on helmet noise.

I changed jackets from my newest and most favorite FXRG Harley jacket to an old old BMW Cycloak textile jacket that is about to get tossed, and the noise was greatly reduced!

The jacket "flaps" must have been deflecting the air flow into my helmets in a manner that substantially increased wind noise. With the old trashy jacket that I normally no longer wear, not a problem!

The sound difference is like flipping a switch, .... that dramatic. The helmet in the clear air stream is almost quiet when I wear ear plugs, (at around 70 mph).
