Hello, not new but first time to need to ask for some help. You all have been great help with info already posted. 2000 X1, 7500 miles, race ignition, race header, D&D muffler, Forcewinder intake.
My problem is this - While riding Friday the battery went dead, literally while riding. This has happened before, caused by a chewed up stator about a year ago. So new battery, voltage regulator and stator. Since then - no problems. This time, put new battery in, shop put voltmeter on and show's charging around 12.28. Ride home, bike runs like crap - sputtering, but still with good power at high rpm's. Put battery tender on , shows battery is low. I let it charge and next morning when I go to start bike, it will fire up as usual, but when I let off the throttle it dies. Not even a sputter or cough, not like it's cold - just will not idle. So I take it for a ride and now it runs worse. I don't have a voltmeter, but will get one tomorrow.
I tried to find this in the previous post's, but I cannot.
Thank you all for your time.

While running the charging voltage should be about 13.8 to 14.5. This will be measured at the batt. terminals. You may have to revisit the V-Reg and Stator again. Oh and the wiring harness.

Thanks for the info. It did turn out to be the voltage regulator.
