XB12X with K&N,Special Ops exhaust, ran great for 7000 miles till dealer did 10K service ! So I put race ECM on and did TPS reset with ECM Spy, but bike is running worse, surging and bike dies ! What am I doing wrong ? Should I reflash race ECM? Thanks for any help !

If you are saying that it started running poorly when the dealer did the 10k service, why not reinstall the stock ECM, take it back and have them make it right? No sense paying for poor service if they want to have satisfied customers.

More to your immediate problem, can you detail exactly how you did the TPS reset?
Perhaps there's something you might have overlooked, like making sure the throttle cables aren't inadvertantly opening the butterfly when going through the procedure.

After 6 weeks & 8 trips, and last one they said thats all they could do ! The dealer said it was the mod on the stock exhaust from Special Ops was the problem!

As far as the TPS reset, I have tried the Race ECM and back to the stock ECM, step by step per ECM Spy instructions. I even took off air filter so I could see the butterfly and it is closed all the way flat at reset, and then back up to 5.1% and still I get rough idle and surging !

OK, if you're confident that the TPS is properly zeroed to the current ECM, then I'd carefully check the easy mechanical stuff: intake & exhaust leaks. At 10k miles, it wouldn't be a stretch for this to occur.

Other things to check for your symptoms would be to clean the Intake Air Sensor, verify the wiring to the oxygen sensor is not visibly damaged, check for stored error codes.

Hey could the round rubber seal that goes from air box down in the throttle body does not seem to seal good on one side (does not lay flat like the rest of the rubber to air box). Would that be a air leak ? Everything else looks to be ok ! Thanks Sparky for the info ! Also no error codes, the intake air sensor looked to have a little oil on it but does not look damaged ! Once again THANKS for the info your giving me !!!!!

Seals upstream of throttle body will have little effect on performance. Seals downstream will have significant effect.

That said, all seals for obvious reasons need to have good integrity in order to prevent ingress of foreign material, dust, dirt, debris.

Looks like what I thought was TPS reset at "0" was a nat's hair off ! For my XB12, I have to take it to 0 and then turn out another full turn and 1/2, and the volts down to .54 from .80 for it to be @ TRUE "0" ! I still have a little stumble when cold, but ridable!!! Thanks very much for all the help! You guys are GREAT !!!

Excellent observation. Thanks for reporting your findings.

It's even a good idea to let the throttle snap closed and even apply light closing pressure to ensure that the throttle plate itself is truly fully closed before letting go of the throttle and hitting the TPS rezero/reset button.

To reiterate Blake's point:

Prior to ANY TPS reset, you should back off the throttle stop screw, and GENTLY force the throttle closed at the grip, so that when you open it, it is stuck at first and then snaps open. You then RE-STICK it, and then, and ONLY then, push the TPS reset button.

Any other method on 07's and prior will not yield consistent results.
