I have an 04 12s with 3500 miles. So I just changed my oil to synthetic a couple of days ago, no problems. Today I changed the transmission to synthetic oil and all seemed well at first. Right afterwards I took it for a quite spirited ride - just loving the smooth new shifting of the synthetic. Im not gonna lie I was running it pretty hard, wheelying and what not. So I get back and realize a small leak. It was coming from that huge bolt Next to the transmission drain plug. I hurried and tightened it back up but when I checked the trans oil it looked way lower that the little sprocket its supposed to line up with in there. So i added some and started it back up and its definitely making a new noise. Its kindof a cross between a gurgle and a clank? So I checked it again and it was way overfull... Leaked it back out to where its supposed to be and its still making that awful noise. Still rides/shifts fine, I only went down the street so I hope that wasnt too much. Ive read some stuff about the primary chain and maybe some seals but I really have no idea. Why in the heck did that huge bolt loosen up like that? Did my overfilling cause a problem? Thanks for any help you guys can throw my way its appreciated! I just really hope this isn't a huge problem. | ||

That big bolt is the primary chain adjuster lock nut. Chances are the adjuster has come loose and now your chain is out of adjustment. There is a link on this site that will tell you how to adjust it correctly. Look under Primary Chain Adjustment in the search area of the Knowledge Vault. | ||
