engine sprocket kept loosening up, now splines are stripped, any fix to this other than total tear down?

Maybe some techs can chime in here? If it's the splines on the shaft and not the ones in the bore of the sprocket, it sounds like a tear-down candidate to me, but I'm kind of over my head on this one.

That stinks, maybe there is some quick fix, but I can't think of anything other then a tear down and new crank.

Don't imagine you could weld new material on there and machine the splines back by hand... maybe if you built some kind of jig for it that used a dremel tool and a cutting disc and keyed off the remaining intact splines. Probably not worth that kind of hack, better to just bite the bullet and rebuild it to be your dream motor.

Don't think of it as an expensive repair, think of it as a non optional hop up : )
