I have a Gerbings Heated jacket. I currently run the Gerbings supplied wire from the battery to the jacket. So I have to start the bike up, stand alongside the bike (a Uly), then pull the jacket up, which is under another jacket and plug in the Gerbings. A real pain in the arse. WHO makes a line or adapter that would go from the jacket to the plug on the Uly dash?? I ordered a Powerlet Deluxe plug (PPL-002) from Eastern Beaver, but that's not right one. You would think Buell or Harley would make one that's longer than 12". What type of plug does the Uly have and what line works?? | ||

I bought the Gerbings jacket earlier this year, along with the Gerbings thermostat. This gives you the reach that you want, and the adjustability of the heat, not just on/off. This comes with both the battery lead, and the plug-in lead. I route mine under the map case on the tank bag and the thermostat is right w/in reach. Most that sell Gerbings should have the thermostat. It adds about 24" to the total lead. The lead can be disconnected from the dash plug for ease of climbing on/off. I love the jacket. | ||

I don't really need a thermostat, I like it "HOT" and "HOTTEST" Do you have any problems running the jacket through the accessory plug on the Uly dash?? I recently heard that outlet is not meant for heated clothing. | ||

Beatnik: http://www.powerletproducts.com/ sells all manner of adapters for heated gear, battery tenders, etc. They can make something exactly to your specifications. The Ulysses uses automotive cigar lighter sockets rather than "BMW" style connectors that positively lock but Powerlet should be able to help you out. Dave | ||

Beatnick, No, I have run my jacket several times over long days and had no problems with the dash plug. I also run PIAA 510s, GPS at the same time. You might also be able to find just an extension. Good luck. | ||

Thanks J, I see that Gerbings has a plug that should work. The cover on the dash outlet says 100 Watts, the jacket's about 77, should be no problem. I was going to rig up the powerlet plug from Eastern Beaver, but the Gerbing wire's a no-brainer. You would think that with all the crap that Harley makes for every bike they sell, they could have an extension plug in their catalog. I'm sure the big dressers have the same type cigar outlet.
