kudos to Brett at RP in Raleigh! Had the TPS reset and AFV checked this AM. (was indeed out of spec) Once that was done he mentioned his concern for a knocking noise on the left side. Said it could be your primary chain or a compensator nut. He checked the primary and it is loose, tightens to spec, and the noise goes away 98%. He says if you hear that change or increase, Please bring it in so we can re-torque as the specs have changed since 2003. That is the kind of service that really shines. He took the initiative and was concerned for what he heard as not being normal. Beyond the call of duty in my mind. | ||

Thanks for sharing your experience with Ray Price. They have really made an effort to reach out to Buell owners. It's good to know that we have another good Buell dealer within driving distance. | ||

Brett is top notch. The day before I was supposed to leave for homecoming, I get on the bike, push down the front end and hear "click." I do it a few more times: click click click. I figure it's the steering head bearing, so I retorque it. Still clicks. I show up at Ray Price at 4:00 on a July afternoon. There are so many bikes in the service parking lot that they have it blocked off.  I go to the service and explain I'm going to Wisconsin in the morning and my steering head bearing is bad. They send me to parts to check to see if they have a replacement. Not in stock, but Mike finds one at a nearby store. I go back to service and tell them I can get the bearings. Brett is involved by this time. He asks me if I'm sure the bearing is bad. I explain what I have done. He takes the bike and does the resistance test. Reproduces my click. Comes back and asks me if I've cleaned the front rotor. I tell him I have. He explains that they click when they are clean, it goes away when brake dust gets on the floating rotor hardware. My bike is fine. I got to go on my trip. And sure enough, it stopped clicking. |
