I adjusted the steering head bearings using the svc manual and voila - no more chatter. With the proper jack and tools it only took me about an hour - and I'm not a "wrench" and I work real slow. The chatter will go away and your front end will feel more 'planted' when cornering. FYI The front wheel must be off the ground when you re-tourque.   Trevorxb9s Posted on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - 01:01 pm:        did you recently have the pads out for a tire change or anything along those lines? when i put on a new front tire on i had a simular chatter. a few hard stops and the pads reseated and all was back to normal...   Hlynmrt Posted on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - 07:14 pm:        thanks for the input, i dont have a manual yet, anyone want to rattle off the torque spec for that? im pretty sure its the head bearing. thanks mike   Nevar Posted on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - 09:00 pm:        While not difficult, it is more involved than just tightening the main nut on top. There are about 5-6 steps that have to be done in the correct order and the front wheel HAS to be off the ground by jacking at the proper place under the muffler. Basically, you will be loosening everything up and re-tightening. The procedure has been described here several times which you may find by searching but you really need the service manual. I just thought this was the character of the "ZTL" brake system but now I'm starting to think I was wrong. Anyone care to comment?   Bryanb Posted on Thursday, August 25, 2005 - 12:28 am:        Hey, indy I had the same problem and I found out that my rotor was warped and it was still under warrenty and they had to replace it. They say that because our rotor is closer to the ground and that I went through some rain over time it just warped. Don't know if their is any truth to it but it fixed it right away.
