Hi,
I have 9SX 2005, race ecm, jardine and cut airbox. Bike is running a little too lean.
If I have understood right, XB ecm adjusts itself while driving. And it tries to adjust a/f ratio little bit too lean. How this self adjustment could be prevented???
I was told that reason for this self adjusting is O2 sensor.
My bike runs really great when it is adjusted by hd dealer. But what makes me mad is that after few hundred km's bike starts to run crappier.
Is there any idea to take O2 sensor off after hd dealer has adjusted the bike in dyno to nice a/f ratios?!?!? Would this make any sense? |

What specifically causes you to suspect the engine is running lean?
The race ECM is programed/configured specifically for use with the Buell race muffler, so it will not likely work as well with anything but that muffler.
What you dealer may be doing is adjusting the adaptive fuel value (AFV), which is a scaling factor for the entire fuel mapping of the ECM. The AFV is determined during steady state running at low throttle openings. I don't know what A/F value the race ECM seeks to obtain at cruise, but I'd be surprised if it is the same 14.7 as the stock ECM. Thing is, the AFV will change a lot sooner than after a ocuple hundred km's. Once the engine is warned up it will change in less than ten km's.

What the ???
less restriction in, less restriction out with stock injection (mapping, etc), is a lean condition.
TPS reset and race ecm will really help A LOT
Likely, maybe, should, you could try, don't know... typical 16-year-old auto shop hogwash
Good mechanic + race ecm + tps reset = happy xb rider
Afer the tps and ecm, my xb12 (k&n filter and a vance & hines s1 muffler), is just amazing
For the price of a 1000 mile service (or less) you will be extremely happy

Yes sir.
I am also happy after bike is set up (tps and ecm). But what makes me crazy is that after happy mechanic has set the bike up after a while engine begins run crappier! This is some hundred kilometers.
I've understood that ecm adjusts itself while driving to f****d up a/f ratio which is too lean.
SO does somebody know any way to prevent this idiotic self adjusting.
Or am I totally wrong here  |
