I have a Cyclone M2 and bought it used a few months ago. I just changed the oil and replaced it with Valvoline V-Twin oil. I'm not sure if there was Synthetic or regular oil in it before. Now shifting is inconsistent and very hard/ stiff especially going into high gear. No previous shifting probs til now. Any Ideas? Thanks a lot...

If you are talking about the tranny/primary oil, overfilling will cause these symptoms.

Why would anyone overfill the transmission...

The MANUAL says fill up to CLUTCH SPRING PLATE and even has a "PICTURE" ... THIS
THE SAME ON SPORTSTER AND XB/BLAST TRANSMISSIONS !!!

Why take the the CLUTCH COVER OFF, just drain and put a "QUART" the CHAIN INSPECTION COVER opening(but of course you have to remove the clutch cover on a BLAST)...

Warm it up -- in fact get it hot. Drop your muffler (love saying that,) drain the primary thoroughly, refill, using the Inspection Cover, with synthetic lubricant ( I use Mobil 1, but that's just me.) I believe you'll find that a 1 quart bottle will do the job nicely and I normally have just a *skosh* left over.

I'm not getting involved in the dino v. syn debate either -- use what you're comfy with. I use M1 and have well over 100k miles, different bikes, and never had an issue. We've got a 2002 M2 that's pushing 30K on the clock (We've owned it since new and I've been gone more than half of that time) and it's transmission is 'butter.'

YMMV

Buellistic, As you like to point out the service manual is riddled with errors.

Lets just say I know from experience that an overfilled primary will cause shifting problems.

Tim:

"YES", Tim there are ERRORS in the Motors Manual ...

And by your profile you are old enough to
seperate the "BUELLschitte" from the facts ..
