In the last two weeks, my low beam headlight has blown twice. I can find no loose connections or frayed wires, and I notice no other electrical problems. Any suggestions?? |

When you replace the bulb, don't touch it with your fingers, use a clean paper towel or shop rag. It could just be bad luck also, electrical stuff usually dies quickly or lasts forever, not much in between. |

Very much appreciate your quik response! I'll handle the new bulb as you suggest when the part comes in from Vallejo HD/Buell. Hopefully, this problem will be one that dies quickly. |

I should have mentioned the reason, if it was not obvious. Filaments wear from heat, the hotter they get, the worse they wear, though most of the wear is from the mechanical transients they see from the rapid temperature changes when turning them on or off. If you leave a fingerprint on the bulb, it converts light that should be passing through into heat that sits on the bulb and makes things worse. Same with household bulbs, if you dust them off, they will last longer.
Same with computer parts by the way. Pop the lid on your computer once every 6 months or so and hit it with the aircompressor (including through the power supply). Everything will last longer, and you won't believe the amount of dust that will come out of there.
And not to take business away from a valued dealer (though they are not a sponsor, so neener neener neener), but I think that bulb is a standard auto part available at most auto parts stores. |

A standard bulb from an auto parts store! I'd bet that'll be a whole lot cheaper than what the Motor Company (or even their Buell affiliate) will charge me. Thanx again! |

trade name for that bulb is H7, you should expect 150 to 200 hours life out of them. a spare will fit easily tucked behind your flyscreen. |

Update on the bulb situation. After burning out another bulb, I took it into the Folsom HD/Buell dealer and they replaced the voltage regulator under my extended warranty. So far, tho it's been only a week, bulb's are OK. |
