Cool...

We are waiting for two things.

1. For Gail to finish the concrete work at the entrance of the dealership (the part where the Gail's logo in the concrete gets filled in). My Idea was to circle that logo with Buells and members, and we smile up to the photographer.

2. A warm Sunday where we can get everyone to ride to the dealership and not look like a bunch of Eskimos on Buells, or end up in a gang fight with the HOG chapter. (the last part would be a joke in case big brother is watching the badweb for our BRAG postings)

C. and we figure out if I take the digital photo, we bribe or coerce Rodger Fleener at the dealership to take it (I am pretty sure he is a retired professional photographer, and his digital camera makes my $1000.00 8mp Sony digital look like a cheap disposable you get at the check out line at Kmart!), or we have a third party take the photo.

THANKS Paul!!!!

BTW...

I do think "big brother" is watching, from reactions and comments I have seen/heard. This may be from a good number on my multiple personalities having issues with paranoia, or this might be from being a criminal investigator for a coulpa decades! Reading people and putting pieces together is a necessary job skill I have developed. I am not always right, but I have a few years experience to draw from, keeping an open mind and not jumping to conclusions.

Me... I am gonna be me and say what I am gonna say. I will not always say what people want to hear, but what I say will always be truthful. If you don't want my opinion, do not ask for it, if you want "lip service" you definitely have the wrong guy in mind. Nothing is said with malice, but things that need to be said will be without hesitation!

So... keep in mind that anyone can log on and read our posted thoughts we share on this thread. I am sure we all knew this without me having this ranting!

One of my other personalities says it is time for me to go back into that dark corner of my head now!

Mobbers...

Today I am working on the ride event list. The dealership needs an event list ASAP, so as new Buells are sold, the new Bueller can be given the event list and meet us for a ride. Remember, as they sell Buells, they give away BRAG and Mob membership, and the dealership pays us the dues for Mob membership. So we get $15.00 for each Buell sold and a new member. Our responsibility is to have rides scheduled so newbies know what we are doing and we don’t have to search out these new members to tell them about our rides.

I am designating meeting dates and weekend ride dates. I have no weekend rides to enter, but I will have the dates indicated. So... I need stuff to put in those dates. I may have a Sunday “ride to Laurence for lunch” or two, but that is it. We desperately need weekend ride ideas. It can be a Saturday morning or a Sunday afternoon. We will schedule two of these a month (altering weekends, a ride every other weekend ), and the start location will always be Gail’s.

So... Step up... call me at 816-935-1836 and tell me what month, and I will tell you the designated dates.

FUND RAISERS...

Sam is heading the Mileage Reward Program. Get your starting mileage to Sam or me ASAP. We have prizes to establish, from grand prize on down. I suspect that I MIGHT be able to get some donations from the dealership. If anyone else has any hooks or prize ideas hook up with Sam or me, or better yet where we can get a GPS at a deeply discounted price (anyone have an employee discount at an electronics store selling GPS?).

My idea to raise some funds to have money beyond what we collect in dues to purchase these Mileage Rewards prizes, is a check your speedometer day. I have a radar gun (yep, real deal just like the traffic units use... I bought it), We can collect a small fee for two runs past the radar to verify your indicated speed against your clocked speed. Most know that motorcycle speedometers are very optimistic. It may say 65, but it can be as much as 6 mph off, and usually the actual speed is slower than indicated.

Anyway... we need a safe legal location that is not way the hell out in noplace to do this. We can invite the HOG bunch, or even have a day for other groups or clubs. I think we need at least 1/4 mile straight flat, and we give them two runs. A 25mph run and a 55mph run. I do not have a big display so it will take at least 3-5 volunteers to help. A money collector, me to run the unit, an assistant to be with me, and a person to contact the rider at the end of the run.

It will go something like this. The money collector does just that(and gets a signed liability release), and radios to me when we are ready to make the run. The rider is instructed to bring it up to 25mph and hold it. When he/she gets to a designated area/indicated speed, he/she flashes high beam, the one assisting me tells me to lock speed, I tell speed to assistant, assistant radios to end of run helper actual speed, that is written down and given to the rider. All is repeated for the 55mph run. And that is how it works. We charge something like $5.00 per run, and that goes into club funds. I have the radar and the radios to use. We basically just need a place to do this.

YOUR MISSION... find a location that we can do this without having local law enforcement want to take us all to jail!!!

Third Idea.

I was totally taken by the surprise birthday party last year. The turn out was great, and other than a knee injury from the 50cc stunting... it was fantastic for all who attended.

So... I propose we have a Second annual "Dennis is getting old and fat & Paul hurt his knee Club Party".

The dates I have in mind would be Saturday June 25, or Saturday July 2nd, or Saturday July 9th.

Sam hosted last year... BUT the location is not yet set other than someplace where the 50cc bikes can be stunted, and beer and soft drinks can be kept cool. This was/is a family event, children of all ages are invited.

First order of business is which date... and where this year. I would host it, but I do not have any place for the 50cc stunting... I live on a major thoroughfare in Independence.

Ideas... contact me 816-935-1836

This is more a personal favorite, but I always enjoyed those early evening rides that started at bike night and ended up at the plaza for coffee, it always seemed cool to pull in and other bikers were there to talk to, hell even a police officeron two wheels was there occasionally.

Any way, just to spark a tail end of a ride idea, it's kinda neat to see us barreling down the parkway at night.

Also, I need some help on coordinating a ride over here by my house, there is a really neat section of road that has 4-5 twisties that will challenge the best of ya, and I would think it would be benefitial to work it into one of those Kansas rides south Johnson County, you won't be disapointed! I guess you could call it "Pauls Gap" Yea, that sound really nice!!!!! Pauls Gap I like that HHHHmmmm?

I have an all day ride we can take on a sunday. I know some people do not really like this ride, but we could ride to the Cassidy rally a few times this year. A few thousand bikes show up, there are vendors, and a dyno. The ride back is a good ride but long, we can take the interstate there.

Go...

For a Saturday (morning start) or Sunday (afternoon start for church goers as much as possible) I was thinking something that could be done on a tank of gas or a bit more for short rides, some local twisties, local place to visit, or something like that.

Than...

I have a 500 mile day planned June, to Hutchinson, KS. A Cassidy run or two would be a good run for the Mileage Reward deal.

Paul...

Let me know when you had in mind... remember, for it to count for our scheduled rides... we need to start at Gail's. That is not to say every ride we do starts at Gail's, just the ones we put on the club calendar to leave at the dealership for our Official rides. That is what I need at this point. The more rides the better... more miles for Sam to tally for a prize.

Everyone...

So far I have Bikers for Babies, Weiner Dog races at the Woodlands, Cosmosphere in Hutchenson, 911 Memorial Ride, two runs to Lawrence for lunch, two runs to Weston for lunch, KCBill's run to Sturgis (I need exact dates to post that), I want to do a Mass Buelling from Gail's to Ralph Wayne's to count as another... and I need a bunch more to fill the calendar (about 15 more to fill the dates, Feb into March and late November and December can be a club event we drive to... HOG is doing a paintball deal, or it can be a winter mass Buellers drive to a winter bike show)

Blasphemy...Guy and Mae's has a website.

I have fond memories, admittedly augmented by help from the 10 cases of beer on board, of taking a group there in a rented Greyhound Scenic Cruiser once.

Small problem with a one lane wooden bridge.

reminds me....I flew out to Hawaii a couple of years ago to do a "tiger" cruise (seven days aboard an LHA) with my brother in the Marines... I was standing in line at the pierside Mcdonald's when I heard some one behind me sobbing, unnerved and unusual, I turned to see this young kid who through welling tears, pointing at the back of my "Guy and Mae's" buck naked BBQ T-shirt, explained to me that he was from Pomona and hadn't been home in a couple of years....I caught him up on how the place hadn't changed while he was eating the lunch I bought him.

Just a reminder it's not only friends and family that the members of the military give up while they are serving abroad. It's good BBQ too! thanks to all of them past and present.

That link posted by Tripper sure does not give it rave reviews...

The "long drive for average food" was not a strong recommendation.

I was beginning to wonder if that was a joke to link the place for a lunch run?!?!

But than again when you had meals cooked by my mother... you learned to eat anything... because she had the attitude... "If you don't like it, don't eat it!" It was eat it or starve... my taste buds were ruined!!! On the plus side... it takes a pretty crappy meal for me to complain or to give a bad recommendation!

I would not ask me if a restaurant is good or not... it would have had to cause serious illness or death for me to condemn the food. Thank you mom... God bless you... but you can't cook! I would not eat my cooking either if I were you!!!

Don't anyone tell my mother I said this... she is 81 years old... and will/can still kick my azz!!!

It actually is pretty average BBQ, but it's so different that it's a good change for the pallette. And besides Dennis, it's not the destination... It's the journey.

If you want the BEST BBQ I have had in a long time, seek out the place that Racerboy took me here in St. Louis.

And need an alternatative to Strouds for chicken? He's got that pegged also. And on Route 66 to boot.

Hans...

I'll do better than that... since your XB is Yellow (it is yellow isn't it?) I will let you have a set of them fancy yellow sliders I have left over from the project... and I will even offer my shop for us to make another set for you. You will need some stainless steel all-thread, some stainless nuts, some stainless washers, a nylock stainless nut, some pvc pipe (I might have some left) and about an hour or so to get it done.

How's that sound???

Trip...

I just was surprised to read the review after the suggestion to go their. Hey... I dumpster dive! It don't take much to make me happy! For example... it make no never-mind what kind of beer is in Sam's frig in the garage... if it says "beer" someplace on the label, in some language... that'll do!

Scott...

When is your bike show at your church...? I'll put that on our ride sheet too! I'll lead anyone from that end of town or those who have never made your show in from Gail's and call it an "official" ride!

I sent and received an email from Neill. He says to say "hi" and is doing OK. He should be through it all in a coupla more months. He is living with his parents for now and seemed in good spirits. I will be trying to talk him into high-jacking his dad's Harley and join us for a ride or come to a meeting. It was good to hear from him.

Hans...

I was talking about ME drinking Sam's beer. Or more like allowing Sam to keep my beer in his frig. Sam has taste and style... I am too old for that crap any more... never had style... my mom's cooking ruined my taste.

To the question "Dennis, wanna beer?" I always say "Sure!!!!"

"Which to you want..." before that question is even finished I will say...

"Which ever is closest to your hand that says beer on the label!"

Yeah... I let Sam drink some of my beer in his refrigerator! I am not greedy!

Dennis,
If guys can do the run to Hermann, you can then head up this way (2 hour ride to my place - 3 hours max taking the fun route including 94 and 79). I'll put you guys up for a night and show you around the area. Hermann is a neat little town. Octoberfest is a very nice time to go there. Great German food. 3 vinyards, good roads in the area, etc . . . Run around Hermann, get some food, and pick up some wine for the evening after the ride. I bet you guys can get Tripper, Racerboy and V2Win to join us.
