I like the idea of having it in Troy, maybe get to meet the former Buell worker to say thanks once again. Do a ride in front of MoCo HQ, in a respectful way. Do some local rides in the area. See the Boss and his band play (not Springsteen). Have some fun in general. Most importantly have a fund raiser, food drive, or something for those ex-Buell workers that are still out of a job. Rocco and I are going out this Tuesday to have a meeting with Alpine Valley Resort. Get all the figures and what they need from us. We then will need a couple days to figure out the price for the Banquet. But I was told today that we did get the go ahead for the resort from Alpine. Rocco and I will let you know along with prices when everyone can book there rooms. To what I was told today. We are looking at $70.00 per a room on the week days and $80.00 on weekends. If you want one of there sweet's it'll be $110.00 week days and $120.00 weekends. I'm thinking this is a really really good deal considering what Rocco and I have researched for the area. Just spoke with Dana who just spoke with our contact at Alpine Valley. We got some outstanding room rates, but I don't remember exactly what they were, but I'm sure Dana will post all the info soon. BUT it's for the June 16th-20th. Again, of all the hotels in the area, Alpine Valley is the only one willing to work with us. ALL THE OTHERS REFUSE TO BUDGE ON THEIR RATES! NONE of which are close to what Alpine can offer. Google Alpine Valley Resort and look at an aerial view. Secluded. Near a main highway, but tucked down in a valley so the bikes will be out of the public eye. To me, the perfect set up. | ||

In order to get discounted group rates, you need to contract with the hotel's event coordinator. I do this all this all the time, but it requires a guarantee of a percentage of the room block (ie: for the recent trade show we did, we blocked 200 rooms, and guaranteed 80% of them). Funny story: at said trade show the attendance was less than we expected (dang economy!), and we only had about 70% of our room block get used. The manager came to us and told us he was going to wave the guarantee because our group ran up such high bar tabs the week we were there! There's something to be proud of.  | ||

that who we are dealing with at Alpine Valley. As of now, it's going to be 100 rooms blocked. Again, ALL the other hotels in the East Troy area, when mentioned about the amount of rooms needed, didn't care. The price did not change. We are going to meet with meet with her this coming Tuesday and hopefully will have more info. | ||

Andy we pretty much have been covering our bases with them. The rates posted above are the discounted rates. I wasn't told inorder to get that rate all rooms were to be filled. We need to have this meeting more less to iron out the dinner end of things. Thats going to take little more time but I feel confident.... and I think I can also speak for Rocco that we'll get this done. | ||

I, for the record, prefer the 16th - 20th. The only reason is because Alpine will be available to us. Again, I've looked at numerous hotels in the East Troy area and I can't stress enough the cost difference between what boils down to a self contained "Host Hotel" and a standard side of the highway hotel. The standard hotels are nuts and seem very unwilling to cut us any kind of deal. Also for the people that want to do a track day, which includes me. The only reason the 9th - 13th works is because the is a scheduled track day on the 9th and if we have enough people, it would be easier for the track to add a date for us on the 10th. But keep a few things in mind. If we do the 9th track day being run by others, there WILL be a limited amount of spots available. There is a possibility that all that want to do the track day won't get a spot. Which makes the 10th a great alternative. But remember this, NONE of the track days are free. They will all average $180 per person. If we could get 100 people to commit to a track day, we could run our own at any time. As stated, it cost about $18,000 to rent a staffed track. IF we go with the 9th - 13th, Alpine Valley will not be available to us. We will then have to look for a different hotel/motel, which may not be able to handle a large group making us look for more than one place, and scattering us around. I think getting affordable lodging outweighs the track day. I think it's more important for all involved rather than setting up something for a few, and in turn, raising the cost for everyone. It's up to you all to get over to the homecoming site and let you're voices be heard. | ||

I prefer the 16th - 20th for the chance of the better weather! that's interesting about Erik Buell's new racing company. Lot of possibilities come to mind about where this could lead with Buell Motorcycles. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I went to the new website and voted.
