I'm doing the May 25th day. Not sure what else, but I'm thinking about the July 3 day. Definately want to do one of the days in Joliet, just not sure which one yet.

Better make that the July 2 day, the 3rd is sold out.

Bike's got a little more to do but not too far off. Should be ready with everything except tires by the end of this weekend. That's the goal anyway. I plan on doing the licensing school either on May 7th or the 28th. Not sure yet. Need to figure out what the best day is.

Licensing school through Learning Curves. It's the school you have to take to get the certificate to take to CCS for your race license. They have two classes in May, the 7th, and the 28th.

Tom, what did you do as far as safety wiring the oil fill cap? The only things that I see in the rules about safety wiring that apply to us are oil drain plug, oil filter and oil fill cap, but since it's a pressed in cap, I guess I'm not really sure how to deal with that one yet.

I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING.
THEY'VE NEVER CHECKED UNDER MY SEAT.
CRANKCASE DRAIN PLUG ALSO NEEDS TO BE SAFETY WIRED. EVERYONE I KNOW HAS THERE BRAKE MOUNTING BOLTS AND WHEEL NUTS WIRED. ALSO I'VE WIRED MY BANJO BOLTS ON THE BRAKES. HAVE YOU GOT A BELLY PAN YET?

Not yet. It doesn't look like I need one for the school, but I know I need to get one. Do you remember how much they run? Is the clamp on the oil drain line enough or did you saftey wire it? The way I'm picturing wiring it seems cheesier than the clamp on the plug. I probably should be looking at the bike when thinking about this, but it won't fit in my cube.

Not needed for the school, but it sure would be nice to race the following day after the school : )
I believe it was around $150, and it took awhile to get.

You'll have to request a bigger cube : )

Oil drain line is as is.

Well I hope my memory is correct for you!
don't remember the p/n
Go to the parts department and let them know they have to contact Henry Duga (Buell), I think thats how its spelt, He's the Man with the answers.
I went through Ukes, and it took quite sometime for them to track it down.

You can always venture and make your own!
I've seen a lovely turkey basting pan (about $0.89 at your local grocery store) used before : )
I'm tempted to have one fabricated.
If you get one, you'll want alot of reienforcement. I've had breaking problems with mine.

Dyna,
"Licensing school??? More info please. "
These schools are held on a saturday of a race weekend. $150, you get about 1 1/2 hrs track time and the rest is classroom. The test is straight forward, and you have to pass that and not crash to achieve the certificate.
Once you have your certificate you can purchase a ccs race license for $110 I think the following day and then enter races.
Also with the license you can go to the track and run practice the friday before sat-sunday races,
maybe even more fridays, not sure. I believe the bike is supposed to be race ready for these days.
cost is $80 and they run 20min expert, 20min amature throughout the day, alot of track time!

Learning Curves website has info also.
I believe it's learningcurves.com

If you don't know they're there they're easy to not find. Head into Hal's parking lot and keep on driving right past the dealership showroom, right past the service bays, right past the crash repair shop and dyno room, right past the loading dock and dumpsters, right past the limited employee parking, and pull up right in front of the performance shop. You'll often see the head wrench out front of the north garage doorway with a laptop plugged into one of the race bikes. Hal's Performance Advantage.

Lots of neat stuff goes on in there.

And Al at American Sport Bike this or last week was typing with someone on the site here about belly pans and someone posted a pic of one.
