H-D buying MV Augusta... to help market share in Europe... I guess they can't get enough Euros to buy into the heavy, underpowered, cruiser, lifestyle thing...

Sooo... H-D introduces a hot Sporty flat track replica and buys MV for that high end, sophisticated sport bike market... They must think they can make some money there...

INTERESTING !

I sincerly hope that Harley Davidson does not follow through with this aqusition. I'l tell you why, First we all know, or at least 'many' of us have had a relativly difficult time aquiring parts and even service for the Buell's that HD was suposed to stand behind. How many dealers have dropped the Buell line all togather, and decline to even order parts for you...? I, like many here have accrued lists of suppliers, who are enthusiests, I mean for crying out loud, when American Sportbike has Better parts availability and often times the part we need, where then does that put the dealers in the areana of support. Kind of sad, at best. The aquisition of MV may sound good to the majority, but there are availability issues with MV just as a singular entity and their own following of owners, now imagine asking for MV parts at your local dealer? ???? Amm...V...MV ammm...what, wheres this part go, and what model is it?.. can prpbably order it, might be a couple months, or more likely, we dont cary parts for those..... Now tell me I'm wrong...I wish I was wrong and it was a straight path and a natural, but you will see the agrivation yourself and remember this post.

Huh?

I hope Harley comes out with a Buell/MV Agusta store. This would be the best for everybody who already owns a Buell and for those who might want one or want a MV agusta. I love my Buell but I hate the customer service. The other day I drove 60 miles to see a new HD dealer in Ohio who advertised Buell. I was hoping to find a T-shirt, Patch, hat, Jacket or even a sticker. They had NOTHING, A CR, 2 R's and a firebolt. A big huge store and absolutely no Buell gear/accessories. If Buell did not make a quality bike, they would be non existent.

I suspect the MV / HD relationship will be largely invisible to folks in the United States.

I heard EB wasn't even in the "loop" on this.

I saw the first MV/Buell/HD dealer here in Wis.. Stock's HD in Manitowoc carries Buell as well.

I've been told that the MV purchase had to do with aquiring production capacity in Europe rather than simply buying a high-end sport bike brand.

Building the bikes in Europe = No import tariffs = a more competitive product in the marketplace.
