I've been kicking around the idea of reupholstering my seat with leather or another nice material. Do you know if this is possible with the design of the seat? (Being able to save the foam matched with the staples in the bottom, this may be difficult to redo.) I need to talk to some shops around here to see if it can be done and for how much $$$. I'd like to get some opinions from fellow badwebbers first.

Mine is getting done right now. I'll tell you how much it was when I go and pick up next week. Hopefully not too much. I took it to a regular upholstery shop here in cleveland. I am getting both the operator and passenger seat done in a blue vinyl. Much like a marine vinyl or naguahyde(very durable stuff). It is not supposed to fade, bleed, soak up water or get stained(very easily).

Or another possible route you could go besides having it professional installed, is go to your local walmart or Joan fabrics and pick up some fur or REALLY STRETCHY fabric and staple it over the vinyl you have on there with I believe 9/16 or 1/2 staples. Make sure it's STRETCHY or else it won't work. You will more than likely have to make a couple cuts in the fabric to make it fit perfectly. The curves in the seat are a pain.

I did try the fabric from walmart but i didn't care for it. Hence I took it to an upholstery shop.

There is another guy on here that put fur on his seat and it looked really good. But I didn't want to be combing crap out of it. And I didn't feel like sitting on a wet piece of fur when it rains (rains very frequently here in OH). Hope this info helps.

I reupholstered my seat! I added foam on the passenger seat to make it look like the street fighter. I work at an Trim shop and to redo a seat we charge $110.

Its on a XB9S so its the same seat. But right now my bike is at Dillon Brothers in omaha getting some work done. So the quickest I could get a pic would be next weekend. Unless Chris or someone snaps a pic.

I had my seat reupholstered in a heavy-grained leathercloth and that's ok but now I wish I had spent some time adjusting the shape of the base to make it a better fit as the sloppy join with the tank really bugs me!
I think the seat design guy at Buell works from drawings in a different state to the rest of them and only gets five minutes to make it fit something like--it must be like OCC!

Alright! It CAN be done! I'm gonna look into it some more and, of course, show some pics when it's complete.

I am looking into having mine redone using the SX pattern and having slots sewn across the tops for the straps of my saddlebags to slip into so I can run just the saddlebags without the tailbag. The extrafoam will be that bluegel matterial when I have it done.
