Replaced my old grips with the Buell traction grips. The snap back doesn't seem to be as good as it should. Seems like the plastic housing is rubbing a bit on the plastic portion of the grip. Is it recommended/ok to grease that area a bit?

I wouldn't. I just put mine on and noticed that the control housing mounts to a keyed hold on the bars. I also have a small gap between the grip and the housing. No problems with snap back. Just my experience.

Just yesterday, I pulled the throttle assembly apart on my other bike and oiled the cables and greased the grip.

At this point, I had a realization!! This almost 20yr old throttle feels better than my new Buell!!

We can't be havin' that!!

So I pulled the assembly apart and greased the round plastic part that the cables attach to, as well as pulled the whole grip off, exposing the naked bar(dry as a bone) and "liberally" greased the bar and the inside of the plastic part of the grip.

Now it feels like butta'.

Not hard to do at all, and took about 10 mins.

I've heard a couple of people say that their new grips were actually rubbing the bar end piece. They had to shave a little off their also.
