You might try taking the axle out and then threading it in from the outside to clean the thread up in the swingarm. | ||

A tap that size is going to be ungodly expensive, I have a tap that's an 1/8" larger that cost almost $300. A new swing arm is close to that price. A used swing arm will certainly be less expensive. You might see if there is a machine shop with a tap that large with fine threads. That bit of work wouldn't be horribly expensive. Did the axle bind when you were trying to remove the rear wheel? I had a real problem with getting mine off when I pulled it the first time to replace the tire. It looked as if there was no anti-seize lubricant on the axle. | ||

Yeah, real expensive tap. I agree with Buellisti. Bring it to a machine shop, they might let you do it for free! And careful, you don't want to use a cutting tap, just a tap for cleaning threads. | ||

maybe you can dress the threads carefully with a 3 cornered file. |
