I bought an NOS airbox cover that came with a set of Buell decals uninstalled. No matter what I try the adhesive sticks to the backing instead of the label. Are there any tricks? I’ve tried heat and cold as well as different directions of pull. These are pretty expensive these days, so this isn’t great!

Is there there an adhesive that I could use instead that would work the same? Something that wouldn’t damage the plastic and would be removable with heat?

I've used DAP contact cement with pretty good results. You'd want to only paint it on the back of the decals so that it would be removable... I used it to re-apply the letters on my M2 after I got new paint.
