17 years on since I watched it unpacked from the crate, XB9R #71 international for the 2004 year is retired. Assembled Jan 2004, delivered to Australia in Feb 2004 with lots a compliance headaches for the DoT finally off the public roads.

Stripped to basic components and reassembled in the past weeks it's now inside awaiting paddock stands. Fuelled with a 30:1 2-stroke mix, fresh engine oil and filter, air filter removed and the breathers and TB plugged, brake fluid replaced and calipers retracted.

Really clean bike, nice restoration or keeping it super clean including all the warning labels! I’d try and get it suspended up in the air just under the chandelier! Might’ve need a bit stronger framing and chain/cable for that! There’s a topic one the “quick board” about someones trip to the Barber Museum with lots of fotos, they look like they use small wires in 4 directions to keep the bikes standing staring up and not leaned on the kickstand.

I checked out the museum pics - impressive collection - there is a museum a few 100kays from me with 800+ bikes that I spoke with a few years ago and they were very keen to long term loan but just not ready to let it go. If space was an issue it would already be there. I'm not sure I'll be allowed to drill the floor as its somewhat unobtainable like a Buell!

Not a restoration that is it 50,000km of hard use - the wife insisted it was cleaned before it came inside. To be honest no one ever believed it would happen. 100% Buell not a part that isn't OEM except the black ceramic coated race pipe (it would be a rusty mess otherwise). All the take offs from the crate are still here including the factory paperwork. I had to retire it as the oil consumption in the last couple of thousand is nearly matching the fuel and unfortunately moved to an area with a dirt road. Just not worth rebuilding.
