Okay I have read through all of the archives concerning the TFI module and im still left wondering. I plan on running a D&D exhaust, K&n air filter, 12 Airbox and a removed snorkel. Now my question is should i keep the stock ecm and through a Techlusion module on there? Or would i be better off performance wise throwing a race ecm and Techlusion module? Or keeping a race ecm on there without a Techlusion module? If i dont need the Techlusion Module i need to know so i dont go and buy it to find out its of no benefit with my upgrades. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

I forgot to ask is there any other upgrades that would benefit performance for my stock xb9r. Besides the ones i have listed.

thanks

Do the ODIE-MOD instead of a stock 12 airbox. Search the archives for the username ODIE for the past 90 days. It should give you plenty of food on modifying airboxes ; )

I don't even have my TFI yet (though santa should be in time for me on this one) but I've heard enough to say with great confidence that you can't go wrong with the stock ecm and a TFI. it will be better than a race ecm alone and the race ecm will be a waste of money if you're getting a TFI.

Hope that helps,
Ingemar.

I *think* the Race ECM will have slightly more aggressive timing, which will probably get slightly more power, but likely not enough to justify the cost (if you already have the techlusion).

Well I installed the TFI unit. Seems to have really good response. I never dynoed my bike so this is the seat of the pants feel. Mods to the bike: Race ECM, De-snorkle, holed air box, and Drummer Pipe. This is on a 12R. For the little time I had it out the other day, the throttle response was very smooth and even and it pulls really hard. I had a couple of questions about the unit.
When I turn on the bike the green light flashes.
Once I start the bike the first light runs steady green, the yellow light flashes for about 15sec per the instructions. I notice that I get a very slight increase in engine RPM increase when going through the set up and I do mean slight. This could be from the fact that I have the Race ECM. Bike runs great, not stumbling stuttering or starting trouble. I wish I would have dynoed it before I put it in to see the result, but I am very satisfied. OH BTW THANKS DAVE!!!!!

I really doubt that the more advanced ignition timing on a XB9 race ecm (if it even exists) would make any noticeable difference. It's pretty easy to advance the timing slightly and find out, move the CPS.

Lpd22 the stock and race ecm's are mapped for Buell components so if you're going to run non-standard parts I would think you would do much better with the stock ecm and the TFI.

Don't do that!

Well I did a MK-20Azz Dyno run this weekend on my bike. Here's what I noticed:
1) Throttle response...improved!
2) Small stumbling at low RPM before bike is warmed up..... gone!
3) Power through the power band..... improved!

One of these days I will get some real Dyno work on it, but right now I'm having too much freaking fun riding my bike.

I've heard the the TFI was developed to run with the stock ECM. Also, as the TFI can only add fuel, and the stock ECM has insufficient fuel delivery, they seem to go together. I'm not sure if any Techlusion testing was conducted on the Race ECM. You may call them and ask??? I would say you are probably OK with Race ECM, so long as you are not too rich anywhere in the rpm range with your given bolt on's.
