WEll this months copy of HOTBIKE(NOV2004 issue) arrived and I was suprised to see an article about their XB12...that is until I got into the meat of it. They removed both the front and rear calipers in order to remove the rims for tire changes...I can understand the front...except it is MORE difficult to remove the caliper with the rim in place then it is to follow the manual...and for the rear???? That just makes no sense at all.

I have to admit that I did mar the powder coat following the SM instructions while removing the front wheel. It seems easier to do from the side opposite the caliper. I worked at it for a few minutes on the caliper side, smoked a cigarette, then sat down on the opposite side. It was off in about 35 seconds from that side.

With the rear... If you don't have the bike elevated at least a few inches and you don't remove the caliper, it can be a little more difficult to get enough slack in the belt to place it back on the pulley.
